SCP: 5K / Affray Community Manager Introduction
Hi everyone,

I wanted to briefly introduce myself to the community, as I just joined the Affray team as SCP: 5K’s Community Manager.

I am Goomes, and I have been working in and around the indie games space for a number of years now, primarily within the tactical shooter and milsim communities. For those of you who also play games within these genres you might recognize me from Operation: Harsh Doorstop, where I have been the community manager and one of the lead team members for the past few years. In the past, I have also worked with a number of other games and studios you all might be familiar with, including but not limited to Incursion: Red River, SCUM, and Insurgency: Sandstorm (among others). SCP: 5K is also a project that I have a long history working with as well—I first met the team and was introduced to this project all the way back when it was still on the Squad SDK, and I worked with the studio on the Kickstarter campaign, Steam launch, and numerous subsequent updates since the early access release, but I was never formally part of the Affray team until now.

Outside of tactical shooter/milsim games, I am also a huge fan of games/series like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., DayZ, and so on. The prospect of exploring and building something that blends the world of tactical/hardcore shooters with horror, survival, and paranormal/supernatural themes—such as the SCP universe—to create a “tactical horror” experience that hits all of the high notes of these genres is of great interest to me, and I feel there is a tremendous amount of potential here to create something truly unique.

Moving on to the future and what this means for SCP: 5K, it will be my number one goal and priority to ensure that not only will Affray’s plans for this game be effectively communicated to the player base so that everyone is kept in the loop with the goings-on of the studio, but that through me you will all also have a more direct line of communication with the team as well. In the coming weeks and months you will likely start to see me more regularly here within the Steam Discussions, as well as the Discord, collecting feedback and questions, having discussions/dialogues, and so on.

With that being said, feel free to reach out to me if you need anything (Discord is best for a more prompt response—my name is the same there as it is here), anyone is welcome to send me a DM there if you have any questions or there is anything that I can help you with pertaining to SCP: 5K (my messages are always open), otherwise I will do my best to monitor and reply to what I can here on Steam as well. I look forward to interacting with you all and bringing value to the community!

I have noticed, and I will be doing my best to help alleviate that for sure. I do appreciate the effort I have seen you put in though!

Nice introduction Goomes.
One question, are there any plans or even a possible feature, for the future development, to have VR Support?

As far as I am aware no, however, I recommend looking into Praydog's UEVR injector, which is a tool that allows for integration of at least some form of VR into Unreal Engine based games. I know that numerous people have been able to do this with SCP: 5K in the past (and there are YouTube videos of it if you want to check it out). Native VR support for a project that wasn't built around VR is a tough thing to add this late into a project though, so I probably wouldn't count on that happening (at least not anytime soon—maybe beyond 1.0 release when the game is more or less completed and there is a viable path and adequate demand for it).

Has Dave really been removed? His quest still pops up when players go to his area.

Or is he hiding somewhere else?

Direct response from the team:

"Dave being removed:

Yes and no

He still exists, and will still be a side mission. We love Dave.
But currently his old objectives are still lingering in the early levels as we try to clean up things and update the objectives/content"

Kevin, first off please do your best to practice good forum etiquette here and do not spam. You do not need to post 3 messages back-to-back, just make them all in one single post. You can go back and edit an old post as well, so there is no need to post more than one at a time. These are also probably more appropriate in their own post and not as replies to this announcement, so if you have more questions please consolidate them down into one single new post.

Yes.

SCP: 5K is a PC only game right now. While the team does have aspirations to eventually explore taking it to consoles, that will not happen for awhile, and the focus right now is on PC.
