Digimon English Dub
I was checking online, like I always do, to see if the game is dubbed in English. I expected it would, but was disappointed to find out it's not. The reasons I've read online are that Digimon are less popular than they used to be in western countries. I almost didn't buy Digimon Survive because it lacks english voice acting. Voice acting makes a game better always. However I as a fan of the series am reluctant to buy a game without english voice acting, how are other westerners who are interested, but not fans, in the series going to feel? Anyway. There's my obligatory rant. Include english voice acting. It's loved.

I can definitely see why you would think that as Digimon is a property that is usually presented with an English dub when brought over. The only other games that aren't dubbed are both Cyber Sleuth games.

People will say to buy the game regardless to show support and maybe they'll include it in the next game, but that isn't a guarantee. Anime more popular than Digimon have been getting games for years with no dub and that doesn't seem to be changing as the years go on.

The only thing I know to do is to keep letting the company know you want the games to be dubbed. Others will say that no one wants that, but that definitely isn't true with how much the topic comes up.

This was a small Digimon project with a small budget. There was never going to be an English VO for this kind of game. It just wasn't in the cards.

It would be nice if it was an option. The only thing I can suggest is to let Bandai know via Social Media or their Website that without Dubs you wont pick the game up. The only way to get them to change their mind is to show that without a Dub they are losing more money then it would cost to include.

It costs exponentially more to pay VAs for an English VO than that.

OP, there's a reason smaller JP devs tend to not include English VO. It's not because they're lazy (anyone who knows anything about Japanese culture would know that.)

Of course I know that. All I said is that it would be nice if they could and told him how he could change Bandais mind. I know a lot of "Dub or Die" Trolls have been posting on the Forums right now, but thats no reason to lash out at people who are being reasonable.

No thanks. I would rather they spend resources elsewhere instead of adding the option to have an inferior English dub.

Where did those resources go? They didn't market the game. The game isn't fully voiced. If they saved so much money by not including a so called "inferior" hypothetical dub then why haven't they used those precious resources to try and help sell the game overseas?

A dub existing isn't going to ruin your experience. Just don't use it.

Literally this, I'm not sure why people do not understand this. Very few english voice actors are actually good. Some examples being the kindom heart dubbers, Dragon Ball Z, etc. 80-90% of them are horrible.

There are people who enjoy English voice acting. There's a demand for it. That's why they keep being made. You really think Japanese actors don't also read from a script?

Well, yeah, but Japan has the advantage. The west didn't put much stock in animation like Japan did for decades. It's to be expected that one side would be better at the craft. The western world doesn't have schools dedicated to voice acting, so at best you get actors who only can use stage acting as some sort of guide.

I wish people would stop bashing English voice actors. I mean sure they could be better, but it's not like many of them don't try. It's just anime is not a medium they are accustomed to on a daily basis as part of their career.

Difference is that they're trained and talented, unlike western actors of anime-type games, who are not only reading their text, but also sound like they're reading their text.

Anyway, dub is an obsolete remainer of a time where ethnocentrism was seen as crucial in marketing stategies. When editors believed their audience was a bunch of uncultured brats, barely able to read or think. It led them to corrupt and turn into americanized parodies games like Persona or Gyakkuten Saiban. Borderline racism, if you ask me. Condescension, for sure.

Obviously, as the world slowly entered a new age of accrued cultural acceptance toward foreign countries, dubbing appears less and less relevant, since years now. Japanese also understand more and more what is the right thing to do, and deliver now the original works in their unsoiled form.

Don't fight it, embrace the authenticity and reject the obscurantism brought upon you by the remnants of the WWII era's way of thinking.

Tell me you don't know a single voice actor without saying you don't know a single voice actor...

Some of what you're saying was true, back in the 80's. English voice actors nowadays -- for the last few decades, really -- are professionally trained, practice constantly, and treat voice acting as their primary profession. It's funny that you're calling dubbing "bordeline racism" when insisting that Japanese voice actors are just inherently better is, in fact, just straight up racism.

Name me one property that has seen mainstream success that has never had an English dub.
