Mission 6: Hammer and Anvil

I can't figure this mission out. I've looked at strategy suggestions and tried to follow them, but I'm not getting anywhere. So far my strategy has consisted of using the recon unit to locate the enemy, then move Alpha, Bravo, and Echo into positions NW, W, and SW of the enemy in order to drive them east. Invariably the NVA spot my units and engage them, leading to a firefight that invariably ends with the NVA getting wiped out by my units instead of the allied forces. When the NVA unit does retreat, it seems they only move a few grid coordinates away and then stop again.In trying to push them further East, I usually end up wiping them out. My latest playthrough I tried ordering my units to hold their fire, thinking that maybe the enemy groups would move away, but that only got Echo platoon wiped out.

What I also find problematic is the mission orders are a little too vague. I get that the goal is to push the enemy East, towards the allied units. I don't understand what the box on the map is supposed to represent. Is it supposed to be the approximate location of enemy forces? Am I only supposed to get the enemy units inside this box or am I supposed to push them all the way into the allied units?

What am I doing wrong or what am I not understanding?

There are 4 enemy units, they do not start on the box, your job is to put them on that box and push them into the anvil forces. What i did was to spam recon to know the enemy position and every time my platton would start shooting at them i order them to stop advancing. The enemy will get out of firing range and i would order my platoon to move again. This is the only mission tha i could get 5 stars until now.

I think out of the 4 VC units, only one I was able to push into the anvil units (the southernmost one). The other three, I think alpha and bravo basically chased them across the map and wiped them out by themselves, at least on my playthru.

You are lucky. None of mine are advancing, and my troops are literally at 1 step of them. Nonsense bugged mission
