Using Wakaru hotkeys in OBS?

I've been learning to use Wakaru due to 3tene giving me issues with facial expressions, and while I don't mind being restricted to using hotkeys for emoting, I do find it disappointing when I can't seem to use them when I try to stream or record with OBS. Is there a way to access the ability to emote when running OBS (or just whenever Wakaru is minimized/not the active window)? For extra details, my avatar is a VRM model.
