Dx12 ver does not launch (cannot find dx12.exe, and it is not in the folder)
Hey, I bought the Steam version of a game (already after the recent update), but I cant launch the DX12 version. The error message states that the system cannot find the file specified (dx12.exe). I also tried looking it up in the game's folder, but there isnt one. There is only a general launcher and a DX11 version. Tried reinstall a few times, did not help (including Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables). Any thoughts please? Thanks

My Norton kept quarantining the dx12 so maybe check if it's being quarantined and deleted. After that verifying the integrity of game files via steam should redownload the missing dx12 application file.

He thinks that you dont have directx 12... But the problem is lack of control_dx12.exe file from game not lack of directx12... I have same problem

In my opinion they did something or files are corrupted before downloading thats why we dont have control_dx12.exe look on monit while downloading ive seen some errors

My spec works with hundreds games dx12 fine, its not spec its corrupted installation of game, thats my opinion, uninstall game and install again and i bet you will have same problem

OMG ROTFL!!! file control_dx12.exe is physically on disc until you launch game, and now disappeared - game itself delete it after first launch!!

And i even cant force to copy file again game do that, so its not corrupted files, its some kind of protection, seems game thinks we dont have dx12 or we have illegal copy? ROTFL!!!

I restarted windows, didnt start game but instead copy file control_dx12.exe and now it let me to do that but when i start again game just like before it HIDE this file and block possibility to copy again, so my newest theory game thinks file is illegal... It cant have anything to do with DX12, because the game is doing this! Nothing else, game is making file hidden. So im sure isnt doing because of DX12 its just coincidation. So the only fault is on the game side

https://ibb.co/93rFhM8Y i even tried to rename from control_dx12a.exe to control_dx12.exe and it not allowed me. Is this looking like protection from dx12? No... Its mistaken bad legacy protection mechanism...

actually that is true, I reinstalled it many times, the first launch runs starting with a black screen and then... the error message pops up, the 2nd launch already starts with an error message instantly

I have not been able to find a solution yet, is there a way to message to Remedy support or something, I doubt it is solvable on our own by doing some tricks.

Also, just For the Information sake: I used to have Gamepass ver of Control, it worked perfect. Just before getting a steam one, I deleted that one.

I wrote to Remedy will see if they react support@remedygames.com if this theory is true only them can repair this situation
