Weird glitch where everything is open

So I have Control on GOG Galaxy, and I played through the entire game before uninstalling. Then I thought I'd play it with some of the cheats on, like immortality and aim-assist. But once i got to the maintenance section, I discovered something. Everything was open. Higher security clearance doors, the containers with materials. I could take the shortcut to the control room right by the beginning of the maintenance section. And when I got the quest Merry Chase, nothing happened. The container that is the bait is open, and the floor doesn't collapse.

I exited the game and entered again. Except I spawned at a Control Point that I hadn't arrived at yet, and every single control point in the Maintenance section was available to fast travel to.

I'm wondering if the save files are at issue because I could still continue, despite having uninstalled the game. Where are the saved games stored? Maybe deleting them will help, but I'd like to hear your opinions

Nope, it's simply just you can't play a new game. 1 play only. Congrats, you've deleted your previous game save now and lost anything you had done post Mission 10. Unless you waited till after you did the DLC to beat the main game, you've likely lost your cat ears and mods. Sorry to break it to you like this, but I had the same thing happen. I lost my cat ears. I tried to start a new game on GoG and found the same thing.

You know, I honestly thought you were just being an ass when you started talking about cat ears, but then I looked it up and saw that you can legitimately can get cat ears. Had no idea about that, and I did play the DLC, just didn't find all the cats.

So its an issue with GOG Galaxy? I'm not saying that I wanted to keep my mods and 'cat ears'. I knew there wasn't a new game plus, but this is seriously an issue with the client?

It's not just GoG, people on steam have complained as well, they think it's a bug, argue with me and tell me I am a troll, but they never come back with the evidence that I am wrong and they got a new game to work. I have asked a half dozen people this year to prove to us all that they can start a new game some how, they never come back with how. I wish I were wrong, it's a fun game, but play the arcade replays and stuff as well as the expo in the jukebox. I still play those, they're fun and challenging if you play the hard ones

Does galaxy have cloud saving? I never checked.

On steam you'd need to disable cloud when deleting your save or steam would just re-download them.

That is lovely, I only said what I know about GoG, I have never tried to start a new game on Steam nor have I ever claimed to have or to know anything first hand. GoG did not allow me to delete save files in 2020 when I tried it, I do not know if one can today, I simply did not try again after losing my cat ears once already. If it was so easy to find this information then don't call me stupid, call those who didn't try google or wiki and instead came here. Thanks for the Tip, Seamus.

I went afk, I thought about it a moment, and I decided I still am not satisfied, How exactly is having to go into your files and delete saves as well as go into steam cloud saves to delete and disable, the same as making a new game? I don't have to do any of that to start a new game in Any of my other games. Please tell me exactly how having to disable clouds and delete saves to begin a new game in Control the same as when I just select New Game in any other game? All I said was you're not allowed to start a new game, I did not say it's impossible to, I did say no one has shown how to, until Seamus no one had. Thanks in advance.

You call me stupid and not the one's who don't know how to do what gamers have been doing on pc since the dos era. I am not the stupid one because a game, the Only one I have ever played in my life that doesn't just allow a New Game to be made with out doing something gamers have been doing on pc since the dos era. When you start from new-game, delete the savegame-slot-00_* files from

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Control\Saves\

The GOG version of this game is bugged and doesn't clear out the sector savedata when starting a new game.
I haven't had any issues when running thru Steam, only when trying to manually swap out my save by hand.

thats why we play on PC not consoles. because you can easily tamper with any file and/or programm on YOUR PC.
