micro stuttering? no clue how to fix
anyone else not getting smooth motion? I have a ryzen 9 3950x and rtx 2070 super and even though rivia tuner says im getting 60fps in perfect 16.6 frametime it looks like its a stuttering mess. I cant figure out what in the world it could be.

Same here.

I'm running it on a Ryzen 3700x with an RX Vega 64 at 50 to 60 fps (60+ with MSAA off). I see no framerate drops, but very noticeable micro stutter. No tearing, FreeSync is on (vsync is not). FPS is limited to 73 using Radeon Chill (max refresh is 75 Hz). This isn't the DX12 stutter everyone is talking about, as the Steam version launches in DX11. (Does anyone know how to force DX12 in the Steam version? Starting the DX12 .exe still launches the game in DX11-mode it seems.)

Make a file called steam_appid.txt in the game folder, and put the number 870780 in the file and save.

Should fix the not running in DX12 issue.

This does work to force DX12, thanks!

Unfortunately, it does not alleviate the micro stutter.

I have the same issue, but I can only run in DX11 as I'm in Windows 7, unless the DX12 version run on Win 7 with the new updates to DX12 but still.

I'll update you if I find a fix as the issue seems the same as yours.

So far I:

-Enabled/Disable v-sync through Geforce control panel and in-game
-Dropped resolution to 1080p with lowest settings
-Switched between windowed/borderless/fullscreen
-Capped/De-capped frame rate through Geforce control panel
-Moved physx from GPU to CPU

...and I'm still getting microstutter.

I can get 60FPS at 1440p (which has micro-stutter), and the same occurs with 60FPS 1080p, though it's less noticeable because of the drop in resolution...so I don't think it's a performance issue.

Fun thing is that some settings cannot be disabled until you turn on or off some settings, then when you turn them back to what it was, the first setting you wanted to change stay like that and it doesn't save the settings really once you restart the game lol.

There's some serious issues with the settings!

Does it help?

For me, it was Freesync not engaging correctly for the game. It would feel like it had microstuttering due to Freesync not working. What fixed it for me was hitting WindowKey+M to totally minimize it and then bring it back up and I could tell immediately that Freesync was now working. Not sure if it will work for anyone else though.

My System is a Ryzen 3700X and a RX 5700 XT if that matters.

I did test it again and the WindowKey+M doesn't always seem to consistently minimize the game so whatever way you can to minimize the game to the icon in the Taskbar and then click on it to bring it back up engaged Freesync for me.

I highly recommend giving Rivatuner Statistics Server a try. You can enable a custom granular framerate limit (which is superior to Nvidia's framerate lock), and check out Blurbusters' website for Vsync/Gsync/Freesync settings with minimal input lag and improved framepacing where this stuff is explained.

On my end, using a custom framerate lock of 59.94 helps eliminating almost all stutters in this and plenty of other games with poor Vsync/Framerate lock options.

Hopefully this helps some.

I found something interesting. I can get Freesync to engage properly by launching it directly from the executable in the games folder. For me it didn't matter if it was the DX11 or DX12 one it would still engage without issues. I then preceded to try and launch it from Steam again and I ran into the same issue of Freesync not engaging correctly.

I see it happeneing to Intel systems too so its not a ryzen issue like i heard some people say.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Unfortunately global reflections is bugged anyways, causing white grainy pixelation wherever a reflection is supposed to show up, even on the jacket etc. Kind of a shame they didn't fix this yet.

Ya, it's a win/win/win, better performance, no stuttering (fixed it for me at least), and looks better overall.

Its like he said its the global illuminations turn those off and it completely fixes it.
