Dr Hartman fight, what am I missing?
I'm literally stuck on this boss and dunno what I'm doing "wrong". I've tried not killing his goons in the first wave when he turns off the lights except for 1 so the armored ones don't spawn in. I've tried turning the lights back on quickly so he doesn't regenerate health. And it doesn't seem to matter, he hits me with his through the enviroment ignoring ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attacks for all my health, then that's it.

Sucks that I've come to the point of wanting to just uninstall the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, because I really don't have the patience to do this fight over constantly and not get anywhere.

There are a few things for this fight that you can try.

Hartman can be interupted by shooting his head during stomp animation however it takes damage to do so. (max launch, pierce, max spin, etc)

If you do the lights a few times he can stop turning them off again.

There are sound effects that signal his attacks that you give you ~1sec notice on the attack incoming to time your dodges.

Make sure you have high energy regen mods for this fight if possible as you need to make sure you have full energy during when it's dark and regen as fast a possible when you do get to the lights.

There are a few threads on this fight around so look them up for assistance.

This fight is a lot harder than the rest of the DLC which makes it frustrating as if you time a dodge wrong you can set your self back significantly due to his regen.

Or activate cheats for this one fight if you don't care and just want it over with.
Options - gameplay, scroll down to "assist mode." pick your cheat.

I killed him first try without knowing any of his mechanics apart from 'he probably doesnt like light'

So, i just focused on keeping light On while hitting him whenever possible
If i remember right, there was a NPC helping too...not that it does any real damage...but it is a decent distraction

I tend to use the shield ability a lot...shield makes you immune to anything coming from the front, is quite strong if maxed and allows for regenating energy
About to get hit by something...pop shield...no damage
Need to gather some health there...pop shield and go unscratched
Need to fly safe...pop shield
An enemy in front and dont want to drop shield...charge, kill him and gather health
Talk about OP...

My goto mods...1 max health, 2 'more health on pickup'...it works everywhere
If you have it, you can use the Evasion mod (free health on Evade, ability to heal out of nothing) in place of a 'more health on pickup'
Didnt had it when i killed this boss

Spin as main gun with 3 damage mods for some heavy sustained DPS

Nothing really specific...but i didnt remember anything special at all about this fight apart from he died first try

I had the exact same issue, and here's what I found helped most.

Make sure you call in the backup before you start the fight, it helps.

I used the basic service weapon the whole fight, and when that ran out of ammo, I threw things at him, just keep going between those two.

The best positioning spot in my opinion is when you enter, on the back left side of the room, there's a roof thing that you can go on top of, if you do that, you can shoot and fling things freely as long as you move during the exploding attacks.

Once he punches the lights out, on that roof, you can easily see where, rush to them and put them in, then run back to your roof once the lights are on.

Once I did all of these, I did it in one try, with 30ish failed attempts behind me as I had no idea what I was doing.

If you have any questions feel free to message me and I can help:)

Here's what pisses me off, I JUST realized yesterday I was on the DLC mission and not the main story and the game just does nothing to indicate that. And when your quest list is just jam packed with a laundry list of ♥♥♥♥ to do. It makes me question who the hell thought THAT was a good idea. How no one to think to separate main and side quests into categories instead of jamming it all in one space. So this whole time and after numerous attempts, I realized that the Alan Wake /Dr Hartman part ISN'T part of the main story. just.... wtf...

I'd've thought the complete lack of anything to do with why the Hiss are invading the Bureau and where Dylan is would've given that away sooner, but...

I've already beaten him in several different areas and I'm still chasing him, will it ever end?

You defeat him 3 times to end it.

Hi, last night I finally got him to the final room, the one described above.
I started playing at 11:30 and figured I play for a hour and beat him.

I had stopped at the control point just before the battle.
It took a while to figure out how it worked but after I figured out how to turn on the lights I though this shouldn't be too hard.

Early on I got him down to zero health but his shield was still high.
Every time I got his shield below 50% he turned off the lights.

By the time I got the lights back on his shield had restored and I had to kill off all the lackeys.

This went on and on, until finally at 3:30 am he got stuck in a corner and I just kept firing and throwing not giving him time to move and eventually he died.

If the battle had gone on 5 minutes more I would have quite and never tried it again.

And I really think I beat him in 3 previous area.
