Do I actually own the Control: Ultimate Edition on Steam?
I don't know the whole story, but I heard there was some sort of mess on Humble Bundle where people that redeemed the Ultimate Edition for Steam instead got the standard edition. I bought Control: Ultimate Edition back in 2020, and haven't played it yet as my graphics card wasn't good at the time, but planning on playing it now. I bought the Ultimate Edition for Steam on Green Man Gaming back in 2020. Was there a similar issue on Green Man Gaming or do I actually own the Ultimate Edition on Steam?

There ARE two versions of Control on steam. Standard and Ultimate. Ultimate was the first version added, Standard was added later for a limited time for the sake of a humble bundle and has resulted in a lot of key sellers selling "utlimate" keys that are actually standard edition.

The easiest way to tell the two versions apart without actually playing them, is checking the installation size.

Standard Edition is the larger of the two installs. It's about 49gb.

Ultimate is a bit under 43gb.

Yes, ultimate is smaller. Easily verified here:

You also could have just looked in your games list to see what you own... or your account purchase / activation lists...

Or that you have the mouse icon for ownership right here on the forums...

Thanks so much, this helped a lot :) Seems like I do have the Ultimate Edition as my game size is about 42.8gb

Or the fact he has the mouse icon (which shows ownership right here on the forum)

Or that it's literally listed in his games list, which is public and could be looked at

You both ignored the two very obvious things that were pointed out only to pretend that we weren't being helpful

When you can't tell if comments are paid gaslighters from the publisher, or just genuinely unhelpful people

I didn't ignore anything, I'm just better informed than you are.

The mouse icon shows up for people who own standard edition as well because of the idiotic way it was added to steam.

"Just look at the mouse icon" is NOT helpful in figuring out which version you have.

Both versions also show up as "Control Ultimate Edition" in the library as a result of the same issue.

Again, better informed.

If he's on this forum with a mouse icon, the only thing that would give it is the matching steam app Id:
https://steamdb.info/sub/275147/apps/

You clearly understand less than you think you do.

Wrong.

Control standard edition was added to steam as separate depot to the main 870780 game id. (standard is 870782, ultimate is 870781)

Easily verified on the depots page.

Both show up with a mouse icon and as "Control Ultimate Edition" in your library.

This has been an ongoing issue since the humble release.

You are uninformed as to the history of this issue.

I'm sorry if I caused something, it wasn't intentional. I do appreciate everyone's help. I'm sorry I didn't thank all of you. I'm really grateful that you all took the time to reply in attempt to help me

It's all good.

This has been a gigantic mess since the humble bundle went live and 505 caused this situation.

Roughly two full years of this confusion at this point iirc.

As someone with the standard edition, I love that you posted a link that showed you why you were wrong, if you only clicked twice.
