There's no fix. The game just stops what it is doing randomly. Outside of the music playing the game isn't actually doing anything. It's clear they didn't play test that part of the game enough. The game pretty much stalls before it crashes. The one thing that bugs me about the game is that I have to make backups of my save games if I want to explore the other routes, for example what I spend the ability points on vs what I don't.
Apparently the Foundation DLC has issues with E Cores, particularly on the 12900 series CPUs. Seems like a pain to play a game, but it looks like only a major issue in the Foundation DLC.
It is EXACTLY this. I JUST had this frustrating issue after replaying this game (After playing the new Alan Wake II). I have a 12700K. When Googling, I only got hinted at suggestions to turn off my E-cores completely in the BIOS... Just to play a section of a game...
You do have to set the E-cores off while playing this DLC/just in this DLC area (The Foundation). The easiest way to do this, is using Task Manager (This is what I did). The downside is, you have to do it every time you close and reopen the game.
Fix: Open the game. Alt-tab out of the game, and open Task Manager. Select "Control.exe" right click > Go To Details. There, select "Control_DX12/DX11.exe" > Right click > Set Affinity > Select 0-7 (Uncheck 8, 9, 10, 11, etc...) - And that is it! it won't crash anymore.
Others suggested a program called "Process Lasso" to make it more "permanent" so you don't have to do it every-time, but, I just did it the way above and completed the area. Then didn't worry about it.
They REALLY need to fix this. It is only The Foundation DLC that has this issue. It's actually the first/only game I've encountered that has issues with Intel's E-cores.
Well this was the solution for me, i have a 12700 and the game was crashing in the astral plane and i didnt have a backup save. You saved me
Thank you ! my 13700K got the same problem
Thank you!!! Tried all kinds of settings before I found this thread. Worked immediately.
