Make sure you actually read the directions and install it properly or it won't work.
But seriously though, you need a mod for a problem like that? This game isn't that old, maybe 505 should put that Epic money to good work and give us a freaking update for stuff like that.
I know the whiteboard of which you speak, I did read that; I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the game or maybe other games from the studio; it's a story about golden helmets.
I hope you are either able to adjust your settings to get better performance (it is hard to offer advice without your system specs), or maybe someone will have better advice for you.
This is a game that is totally worth playing, even if the combat is brutally tough.
The difference between loading textures fast and slowly in this game makes an M.2 SSD, else the fix given actually works since the DEV's never patched it. What it doesnt fix though is the greasy nature of light sources and on the ground.
Apologies, that was not my intent at all. I was sharing system specs, in hopes that the OP would as well, so we could hopefully find a solution. Apparently I worded my response poorly, and for that I offer my sincerest apologies.
OP, I hope you are able to use a fix that allows you to play this game.
First off, the fix that is mentioned here:
Works like a charm. There are still some minor graphical problems, but they're within acceptable parameters. It's insane that this game launched with and still has this issue, but it is good to know an extremely light-weight community fix is out there.
Just want you both to know I didn't take this in any sort of negative or intentionally unhelpful way, I mostly got the sense comatosedragon was commiserating. I was aware that the whiteboard wasn't relevant to the main plot, but I've played both of the Alan Wake games and know that this studio really enjoys filling their worlds with interesting, if not necessarily 100% plot-relevant, little details. It makes the world feel just that much more real, and part of why I was so frustrated was because I couldn't enjoy that detail due to technical issues.
My computer's specs aren't anything amazing, but in addition to once again complimenting the fix Seamus posted, I will say this: I tried just about every graphical combination, on both DirectX11 and DirectX12, and without the fix the issue always appeared. It's certainly less noticeable on lower graphical settings, but I'm able to run the game at a smooth 60fps for almost every area at the highest settings now that I'm using the fix. I'm looking forward to playing more of the game.
the files are so locked down i cant even install the texture fix into the folder
what a mess
Any ideas? The game is unplayable. Also, it crashes at random intervals. This is also very annoying.
I'm above Low requirements, more closer to the recommended and I'm playing in 1080p.
Microsoft store is often more trouble than it's worth.
It doesn't work. It shows my username as the owner (I'm talking about the game's folder, not game pass folder) but it simply doesn't allow me to copy the mods files inside the folder.
It says that I need 64kb disk space of all things. :P
