How to unlock Surge?

I got this game as a gift from a friend, and despite sucking at combat, I really like it. That being said, everything I've been looking up says that this version of the game should come with the DLC. Board countermeasures even go so far as to have variations that require the use of Surge weapon form.

One problem. I've never seen Surge listed as something I can unlock either in my menus or at check points. I've heard that it's kind of like a grenade launcher? I'd like to try it and see if it works better for me than Charge, which I use to blow up my face 99% of the times I try to use it.

I just went to the AWE Dump, as a progress point. (If it isn't unlockable for me, that's fine. I'm pretty sure I'm still going to spend most of my time flinging things around.)

i believe surge is tied to the Wake DLC. Once i started on that area, i noticed it showing up in the Construct page. Might've just been a coincidence. But, something to try.

Have you been able to try it? If so, how do you like it?

Takes a little bit of getting used to, but once properly specced up can be considered close to a gamebreaker. Since we already have Launch, it doesn't really get to that point, but it is pretty bloody good. Just don't use it in confined spaces, same as Charge.
