- Turn OFF smart access memory (Resizable bar is still on in motherboard, just the SAM setting in Radeon Adrenaline off). This seems weird but makes the most improvement for me.
- Set graphics preset to medium, and texture resolution to medium
I mean, if it's not working for a lot of people, what's the point in just saying that, and what's with the condescending "if you actually read the directions" ? If you're trying to help, well that's NOT, don't take Animal Planet's place as the condescending troll in this thread.
Most importantly though, you WERE WRONG about that not helping, the very post you were so condescending to is THE POST THAT FIXED MY PROBLEM after reading SOOO much of this thread (which was not made easier by how much you fed that Animal Planet troll). Being condescending is not a good look for anyone, but being condescending while being wrong is just plain stupid looking.
For the record, and this might be a Radeon thing, but the tweakable mod actually made things much worse for me, as the blurriness started to affect whole wall textures and character skin textures, even in cutscenes. After removing the mod this continued in DX 12. I had seen benchmarks where SAM made performance worse, so I had suspected this but had not remembered to try disabling SAM until @cmulk post.
Some notes, the problem seems to be independent of VRAM usage as I had the problem occur at 6.5GB and 7.5GB usage in VRAM, and it seemed to get worse with playtime, not VRAM usage. BUT, DX11 DOES use far less VRAM than DX12, I rarely break 4GB VRAM usage in DX11, so this might actually be the issue. I've seen folks with lots of fast RAM on GPU have the same issue, but I doubt it was as sever. It would get to the point for me where the textures would not fix themselves, and going to menu or changing settings would restore the textures for a few short seconds before they would turn back into Vaseline before my eyes.
Again, the image quality in DX 11 is not quite as good, and there is a small shimmer artifact around smaller high detailed textures when moving the camera, but at least you can SEE them! There were textures that I didn't even know what they looked like until I implemented this change.
After about two hours of play I've only seen the blurry textures once and that was load-in as I approached and it loaded in the correct texture about two seconds later and stayed correct afterward, so fingers crossed I'm think I'm good for the rest of the game. Thanks to @cmulk for mentioning this in this thread, I hope the tweakable fix works for most of you, but for a lot of you playing the Epic version with the now MSRP entry level Radeon GPU's, this should help you out.
I'm leaving SAM disabled for now and will only enable it on a per-game bases if testing shows it helps, which for roughly half the games tested by Hardware Unboxed it actually crated a performance deficiency.
Thus: Workaround. Not fix.
The difference between DX11 and DX12 could not be disguised in a screen shot, and 95% of people could not tell the difference in motion, but you wouldn't know what the difference is because you LITERALLY don't know what you are talking about or what I meant by the difference in image quality.
You're just making ♥♥♥♥ up to try to account for your unwarned smugness, and being wrong. Try helping folks, not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on them, if you're not gonna help, don't go the opposite direction and make ♥♥♥♥ harder, just go way. I'm telling you I solved my problem, and you're telling me that I didn't like you know lol.
I'm just gonna say to all the other folks that come here looking for a fix for this issue, ignore that dude, you're gonna be glad you did, and enjoy your free EGS Control without the awful blurry textures.
Okay, sure.
