If you upgrade your telekineses imediately to its fullest you will almost oneshot every normal enemy.
As others stated, as long you are on the move, use your powers, you will be fine.
I keep switching to flinging things and pistol often.
I suspect the problem is that there is no simple, built-in, difficulty setting (e.g. novice, hard, impossible). You can adjust all the difficulty settings manually in the options, but its easily missed. However there are tool-tips which should help.
I felt the shotgun(Shatter) was useless until just about an hour prior to this message.
I picked up a mod that entirely removes the projectile spread, and now....it'll take a shielded enemy down with two shots, short to mid-range.
Also...revisit areas to farm materials/element(currency). I still have a ton of missions to do, yet almost all my weapons are fully upgraded. In all honesty...it's not really "farming" if you're just running around trying to do missions, and stuff spawns along your intended route....which has been the case for the most part, for me.
Hang in there.
I claim that the biggest difficulty can be the map orientation. And later the jukebox missions. They are really tight.
The difficulty here comes from being a glass cannon. But as long as you move and dish out dmg.. nothing can stop you here.
