The game crashes a lot.
The error says: "nativebufferallocator lockbuffer staging buffer map due to removed device"
I googled for a bit and people say that disabling any kind of overclock fixes it, but I don't have any to begin with.

Specs: ryzen 1600, 16gb ram, RX 5600xt

Nothing is overclocked on my PC, I wont refund it because I enjoy it, at least when it's not crashing.

I'm not trying to pass blame on you. But here are some things. I see someone fixed this issue on Reddit but others haven't.

A) Do you have MSI Afterburner or something similar for your video card?
If so, do you have some settings for your video card set to something OTHER than 100%?
Some reddit users fixed it that way

B) What background services do you have running?
I imagine A/V, but perhaps others

C) What version of Windows, and Sub-version?
Like are you using the latest update/SP or the previous one?

D) Laptop or Desktop?
If laptop, which one?

E) How many monitors are plugged in?
If you have 2 screens plugged in, try just 1
If you have 1 external screen + laptop, try unplugging external monitor

Just trying to spit-ball some common ailments to help out. Not trying to say "fix your PC" or whatever.

A) No, I only use microsoft and radeon own software. I have every setting on stock.
B) Only Steam, sometimes the xbox app, discord or wallpaper engine (already tried closing those). Other than that just the usual widnows stuff.
C) Windows 10 version 2004, I think thats the latest.
D) Desktop
E) Two monitors, i'll try with only one now.

Nothing wrong with spit-balling...... But when I can run Death Stranding(Released on PC July 14th 2020.) with DLSS, Ray Tracing AND HDR in 4k @ 60fps. Control was released on not only Windows but Xbox one and Playstation 4. Remedy had a year worth of play-testing and patching to release a polished version for steam but failed. Sorry there is no excuse really for the crashing, stuttering and locking up.

Have you guys tried undervolting? I had same crashes on my 5700xt gigabyte gaming OC which is factory OC'ed and that error seems to be OC related. I have refunded the game already and don't care for the game enough to sit and try different solutions, but maybe it'll work for you.

Not yet, I've never done anything like that and I dont want to screw anything, I'll try it as a last resort as long as I can play for like an hour before a crash I'm ""happy"".

Yes, the game still crashes after the update.

Change drivers to older ones. It is not a problem to download archived versions of drivers from Nvidia. Every time I sit down to play Control, (at long intervals) they get messages with the text that the device was turned off and each time it helps to downgrade the driver version. I found a lot of information about it.

I don't remember, but I think you can choose between dx12 and 11, I think 11 crashes less.

Any solutions ? I have the same issue and nothing fixes this yet
EbonHawk 6 MAY 2022 a las 8:50 p. m.
I have spent very little time troubleshooting it, but it does crash a lot now. And I played all the way through it no issues the last time I played it, on a GTX 1080. But that card wasn't OC'd at all, but my current one is.

I've tried updating drivers from 497.x to whatever the latest was recently. Something around 511 (not the latest that came out 4/26 though). Anyway, crashed just as much.

Tried DX11 (instead of DX12) still crashed. Tried turning everything down, turning off Ray Tracing, still crashed.

Then, without changing anything, launched the game one night a few days later, played 2 hours with no crash.

It's just completely random. Haven't played in days now, though. Would probably still crash.
EbonHawk 6 MAY 2022 a las 8:51 p. m.
I'm also using the patch fix listed at pcgamingwiki for better textures. Haven't tried reverting that back first, to see if that's the issue.
Biohazard 7 MAY 2022 a las 12:59 p. m.
I tried everything to get rid of that crashes but still no good. Nothing helps i even bought new GPU but no good yet.
If i find a solution 'll definetly write down here
