For those who have played, are there any heavy flashing lights / seizure triggers?
Super rapidly flashing lights bother me in games. I'm usually fine, but if there's suddenly full screen flashes or strobe lights it makes me uncomfortable.

Without spoilers, could anyone please tell me if this game has a lot of that?

And while I'm here, are there a ton of screaming / jump scares?

Hmm, it's been a while. I'm trying to think about if there are jump scares.

It's NOT like Doom 2006 which had literal jump scares in every nook and cranny with demons tearing at your face.

In Control, most enemies teleport into the rooms / areas in obvious ways. Like 10 meters in front of you or whatever. I don't recall any hiding behind you or doors opening.

There is one optional place that might have it. It's in the lowest floors of the complex. The enemies look completely different from everyone else (I won't spoil it) and they largely appear in a poorly lit area.

No jump scares but there are flashing lights at certain parts of the game. Some are in sidequests but there are other parts with flashing lights that you can't avoid to finish the main story.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hmm, thanks. That is annoyingly bright and flashy. :[

yeah it actually bothered me too and i'm not even sensitive to those things. i just dislike things like lens flares and very bright lights in general.

Well thank you for the very helpful comment.

There is actually one specific kind of enemy that causes the enviroment to be lit up with a moderate strobe light effect in a radius around it, though they aren't one of the main enemies and your only real response is to just run around them since they are invincible so you shouldn't have to be near them for long periods of time.

Unfortunately there is one slightly smaller enviroment where you have to be near one long enough to lure it into a room to trap it in to progress, that was unpleasant even without being photo sensitive

Yes, there are moments in the game where you have some flashing lights. They made me dizzy and ♥♥♥♥, but i kept going lol

You haven't even got this game. Begone.

Come on now. Unlike a lot of the toxic trolls here, DSO is trying to be helpful. He mentioned that he played the game a year ago (likely on Epic or console). Ease up a bit.

Yeah people have been very polite and helpful in this thread. Thanks! I really want to try it anyway, so I'll just have to be careful about those areas and play with the lights on.

As a followup, I ended up finishing the main game! I haven't played the 2 expansions yet, but for the main game the following were annoying:

1. That one boss someone mentioned with the bright light. Not awful.

2. Every one of those spiky enemies that have the strobe light -- quite annoying, and not a necessary effect.

3. Especially the mind control effect, I'd like look away from the screen every time I used it. It would have been nice if there were an option to turn off the flashing.

Aside from those, there weren't many jump scares and not many super bright flashes, and it's a neat game other than the annoyance of tons of respawning enemies, and a ton of my deaths and reload times being due to not being able to see anything (screen covered in low health red jelly or a hundred particles or whatever).

In the medical wing there's a fluorescent light on the ground flickering at a pretty high frequency.
