How to make Epic Game Store version's save file to work on Steam version?

I did the same as you, seemed to work only once I'd created an initial save in the Steam version.

I don't know if AWE works since I haven't finished the base game yet, and I haven't quite got far enough to trigger the other one, either.

One strange thing, though, is that in my Epic version I have an option to select any mission completed thus far but in Steam, that option is completely missing.

Yes I forgot to mention that I ran the Steam version once until I hit a save checkpoint (after talking to the janitor) to make sure the other initial files were created correctly.

As for my old missions, I can see them completed and greyed out. If I hover over them I can see the report/description but that's about it. I don't remember if in the Epic version I could select them since it's been a while since I finished that playthrough.

Completed missions are greyed out in the mission list, same as you.

There's a separate main menu option in my Epic version to select any mission I've previously played. Dunno why it'd be absent in the Steam version. Wonder if it's just me for some reason?

I even tried pulling in a different set of save files from another slot from my Epic save folder and got the same exact messages

I even get the same message when I delete all the saves like it's getting a save file from somewhere else. I can't even play the game normally now. It won't save at all.
I'll delete everything and reinstall the whole thing. See if that helps.

I have no idea what this game is doing... I've deleted everything out of:

870780\remote
Local\Remedy\Control

I manually turned off Steam Cloud for this game
I verified the game cache in Steam

I launch the game and I'm STILL getting the two error dialogs when starting the game about not being able to import the preferences or game save, so that makes no sense to me because no data exists at this point when I'm launching the game

I'm starting to think there's a registry entry or something that it keeps looking at

Even after the Steam release has created new save and preference files in 87780\remote, I continue to get those two error dialogs every time I launch the game

This thing needs another patch :(

Glad I'm not alone with this at least. I just deleted every trace of the game I could find and did a full reinstall to no avail. Has to be a registry issue.
This needs fixing asap. The game is essentially unplayable. It doesn't save at all now.

Did the trick on page 5, worked but my save was already in "AWE" but all control point between elevator and the place I was were not unlocked ... Also there is no success unlocked for the progression into the game on Epic ...

This needs fixing asap. The game is essentially unplayable. It doesn't save at all now.

I searched through the whole registry for "Remedy" and nothing in there was making specific references to any save files or anything like that

The DLC is unlocked correctly on a transferred save with the new update, but control points are not unlocked and a lot of doors (that I opened) are closed. Still looks like there's some issues.

I've moved my save, and finally all is working fine, only problem i have is i cant toogle the PS buttons, only the xbox ones.

Nope, i just changed ALL the file names from my original egs save, removed the .chunk extension, and its all working fine.

I think i have ran into a issue of after doing the transfer.

i got to the ability choice in the foundation DLC for the second time and it would not let me select the ability i did not already have (fracture) and now i think i am soft locked without the shape ability and cannot progress.

Sooo, I got it to work by simply forcing all three exe files in the game's root folder to run as administrator. Can't believe I didn't think of that earlier.
I also had to restart my PC before doing that and once I got into the game I played until the game saved once. Working without admin mode now.

Eh... was worth a shot, but that didn't work for me, unfortunately... still get the same two error messages and it doesn't load the save
