Horrible input lag and stuttering makes this literally unplayable?
I'm having an issue getting this to work at all. From the moment the language selection screen comes up, the input lag is intolerable. The cutscene runs at maybe three frames per second, and once I get into the actual gameplay, forget about it.

This is with a GeForce GTX 1070 with the latest drivers. I've tried all (well, both) the options in the configuration tool to no avail. This is obviously working for some folks. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on here? I'm really eager to revisit this game, but in its current state, Killer 7 is literally unplayable for me.

might want to post this in troubleshooting or have a moderator move it there?

Hi tomchick,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing a stutter issue.

Could you please provide me with your full sustem specs including your Operating System?

In addition, would you be able to provide me with a capture footage to give me a general idea of what it looks like?

Thank you,
Sean

P.S. moving this thread to troubleshooting

Anything like steam overlay or other fancy software running? Sometimes some soft and hardware combinations just don't mesh well.

Nothing fancy running, just vanilla Steam. Here's a recording:

You obviously can't get a sense for the input lag in that video, but it's absolutely horrible. Literally unplayable. Which is why it looks like I'm terrible at following directions in the shooting tutorial. Here's some basic info pasted from a DXDiag dump:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: H81M-HD3
BIOS: F6 (type: UEFI)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16260MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce GTX 1080

I'm running Nvidia's 416.94 drivers, which were just released.

Thank you for providing the footage!

We will take a look and get back to you shortly!

For now, would you be able to try out a previous version of the Nvidia driver?

We’ll keep looking on our end too

It seems like a number of users on 416.94 have reported this general issue on that driver version: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/9wtx3x/driver_41694_faqdiscussion/

killer7 full screen mode is running borderless window mode, so it is technically same as desktop. That’s where you probably experience similar issues as some people on that Reddit discussion on the “stutter” topic.

I’m pretty hopeful that a driver rollback will resolve this stuttering issue of yours :)

Bingo! That's exactly it, Sean. I rolled back to 416.81 and it runs fine now. Thanks for tracking this down. And now if you'll excuse me...I'M PLAYING KILLER 7 AGAIN! COOL!

So do you make it compatible with new driver or maybe the next driver version will work? I like to stay up to date, I haven't updated Nvidia drivers yet, I usually do it once in a while like maybe once a month or so.

I would personally recommend holding out on this driver version because it affects more than just killer7.

Okay, so broken driver. I'll wait and see if hopefully the next version is reported to work better.
