I love the game and I was so hyped that I kept checking the store page waiting for a release date like almost everyday since it appeared months ago.
I bought it like two minutes after it came out and I would buy it again just to give my support to grasshopper.
I just expected a little more effort in this port, that's all.
Now that it's available on the PC I'm somewhat interested to give it a try myself, but the forced 1080p resolution means it's a total no-go.
I realise that I'm very much the odd one out as I still use a CRT monitor @ 1280x960, but I don't remember that being a hindrance in any other game I've tried or even heard of.
Sure, some developers think it's cute not to default to my desktop res and refresh rate and shove a 1440p 60Hz down my screen's throat while some older games believe a 5:4 1280x1024 is so much cooler than the bog standard 4:3 equivalent.
There are (easy) ways to work around that, but not offering a choice of resolution at all is puzzling and seemingly as unique as the game itself.
Guess it fits, then.
Hi X-Vector,
The game does not lock at 1080p resolution. The resolution is unlocked.
The game's resolution is scaled to fit the maximum resolution of your monitor. As a added bonus, there is an option to switch between 4:3 and 16:9. So it should technically play beautifully on your CRT @ 1280x960, giving a feel close to the original GC version, but at a buttery smooth 60FPS.
What I think is happening is that people are confusing resolution vs ratio.
TL;DR
-This game has unlocked resolution.
-This game has locked aspect ratio (16:9 and 4:3)
-Sean
- No subtitles as intended, just like the original game
- Outdated controller, no one has reported any issues using any other kind
- Keyboard and mouse button prompts would be cool but not vital
- Raise sensivity slider by opening options mid-game with f11 or just increase dpi
- Implying the existence of achievements or trading cards makes a port better or worse
- Steam cloud would be cool too
Preach. This stuff is lazy and it being NISA, I'm not holding out hope that it'll get fixed and I'll get to purchase the game a third time in its lifecycle - I'm not buying a PC game with no PC button prompts and crappy mouse aim. Thems the basics boyos, would you release a PS4 game with Xbox button prompts and joytick issues? No, you wouldn't, but probably only because it wouldn't pass certification...
What the heck is going on here?
"The deadzone on xbox 360 controllers is too low"
(They've added a configuration option for this to the configartion tool, in case you didn't notice).
If you're complaining with strong words ("Pretty bad port"), ignoring all the good stuff and just focusing on some minor things, then be a man and tag off the things that were solved within just a few days (while it's weekend for the dev-team, so I guess they've been working overtime).
Then its a good port if it works the same way as console version.
"You can't choose the resolution"
Again, its not like you could in console version which means its a good 1:1 port.
"No subtitles during cutscenes"
Neither original game had that option, silly donkey.
"The deadzone on xbox 360 controllers is too low"
That sounds like you issue.
"No keyboard and mouse button prompts"
Again, 1:1 port. Beside what insane being would play such games with K+M.
"Aim sensitivity with the mouse is too low"
Again, if only you used the intended way of playing this console game....
"No steam cloud"
There is cloud support you liar.
"No trading cards
OH YEAH BECAUSE THATS WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ABOUT VIDEO GAMES.
Garbage digital trading cards that you get as a drop and instantly sell for 3 cents.
"No achievements
Oh yeah because having achivements is sign of port quality.
Those freaking so called "achievement hunters" sure as sad.
If only they focus more on playing and enjoying video games more than grinding for their sad achievement score.
Good for you.
