It will always be those. I think beyond the tutorial the only other prompt is "A" on the save screen anyway.
You can hit F11 to bring up the config for quick reference at any time.
(to really make it complete/useful you'd also have to make it work with custom controls, all 4 languages and some very hidden dialogues just mentioning the default keys - the orginal game/source simply is too bad at teaching players in the first place)
Unfortunately I don't have the hashes required to outright mod and replace the button/stick graphics with keys/mouse.
But as I said it wouldn't help you while immersed into the game anyway, because they are only ever used in the optional tutorial at the start, which isn't connected to the rest at all.
Maybe someday you will get these so called "hashes"
Last I suppose if I played with trial and error I could make it all work out in the end since its not like they're that many buttons to memorize in the first place.
I think what it ultimately comes down to is that it really rubbed me the wrong way since I see that their is button prompts for the controller but when it comes down to it, the PC's default method of control is mouse and keyboard and it is what I have currently become accustomed to. Also since it is a shooting game it is easier for me to aim with a mouse since I personally have more control and comfort with such peripheral.
I suppose when it is on sale again I will give it another chance and take what you said into consideration I also really appreciate the feedback and such and the critical perspective.
Also it wouldn't take that much effort since steam literally supports those features for them in a way and you'd just need to make the pictures for it since the code is already there.
but the icons are only showed during that tutorial, i too thought that was a jarring problem at first, but this port didn't excatly get a lot of cash to work with so really i can say im happy it got a PC port and can now natively run at modern resolutions as oppose to trying to work with a GC emulator or something of the sort
there is actually also hotkeys which let you swap the different personas you have on the fly instead of cycling through the menu which wasn't in the original game which was a nice quality of life improvement should you get used to those
i know im late to this thread but its work getting over the initial control scheme hurtle
I'd like to see you port a Gamecube/PS2 game and show us how easy it is.
While this a valid request from PC owners, making games and changing icons in games isn't as easy as everyone without any programming knowledge thinks it is. Likely the tooltips are hardcoded into the game, and controllers are universal whereas keyboards are in multiple languages and different placement.
If it's really difficult for you, You can use the in-game tool to bind the keys to the corresponding tooltips since they don't use any crazy ♥♥♥♥ and use the English alphabet on the button icons. A for A, I suppose you can change the mouse to also respond to reload if you wave the mouse like a madman (or be a normie and keep it on R), B for B, Y for Y, etc.
Or is that too woke for you all?
Honestly I didn't know this game was violating our social justices in society brought to us by racism. Honestly I don't know how that has to do with this discussion and just seems like you are trying to make yourself sound smart when you actually just proved to be just an insensitive bigot
But thanks for the concern I'm not responding to this thread anymore and am unsubscribing and I already picked the answer to this discussion so that way I don't give any trolls or emotional unbalanced people the satisfaction of wasting anymore or anyone else's time including present company.
Thanks for everyone's input and handling this in a mature way and I hope everyone can get along and remember that we are all just trying to enjoy a game and have fun!
