Full disclaimer: never did tutorials.
- A built foundation for it to go on
- A Footprint
- The stuff that goes in the footprint to make the room work
- The staff needed for the room, if it needs staff
Building a foundation is done in build mode. Build mode is a button you can find in the top left corner of your screen. Once in there, start looking through the tabs and you'll eventually find it. Or press F6.
A footprint is made in Management Mode. Also a button in the top left. Or F7.
When in management mode, your mangaging changes are made for the department you currently have selected . To change the department you are drawing footprints for, click the icon along the bar toward the bottom of the screen. When in the correct department, you'll see a list of rooms that can have footprints drawn for them on the left (and also on the right, if you have hospitalization unlocked and the department supports it). Click one of the icons to make your cursor able to draw that room. Fiddle with the other icons to see what they do.
When you've made a room, it has to have certain things in it to work. The most direct way to figure out what a room needs is to click on the large icon on the map that was made within the footprint you just drew. That will take you back into Build Mode, but within the furniture tabs, and will highlight the items required in the room.
Once you have everything you need in the room, you'll need to hire people to work at the workstations you've made (creating workstations, which are typically computers on a desk with a chair, is one of the requirements in near every room). You can hire for your workstations in Management Mode. Again, make sure you are looking at the correct department.
Something to note here is that walls are optional. Some rooms will need them to hang certain furnishings from while others may work a lot better without them, like waiting areas and receptions.
Thats too bad, the game is fantastic. I have enjoyed it for many hours.
