Silly (bathroom) question
Ok, so, I don't generally go with "wards". Pretty much anyone hospitalized gets their own room. So, my question is, lets take cardiology. Say I build a single bathroom for each HDU and each regular ward, as in, a bathroom IN each of those rooms. Will other patients simply wander in to use those or would it be just the folks in that room? If randoms will be coming in to use em, I'll probably not do it as that'd be super weird....

Generally, every character can use every toilette. it does not matter where you have placed it.

I do this and provided you get the layout right it works well for patients- basically make sure the toilet you want them to use is the one closest to their bed (i.e be wary of common walls).

Unfortunately doctors and nurses will use the closest toilet so if the patient bathroom is closest to their work station, they will use it. I have tried to address this by having a staff only bathroom in the nurses station or on-call room with mixed success.

Heyho Kyle,

I'm with you ... one patient, one room. All rooms have their dedicated toilet/shower cubicle. As iancw pointed out, every character uses the toilet that is a) nearest to them b) unoccupied and c) not restricted (f.e. staff only). It happens regularly that patients use a toilet in someone's room or doctors perform a procedure and go to the WC in the patient's room. :) But with a little imagination you can pretend that everyone uses their own facility, because at least you provided them with one.

Here is an example: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2223053010
I'm quite content with the design, but it feels a little bit crammed. Although I follow the rule that every tile around the bed must be free from hindrance (that leaves 9 tiles on which the bed+bedside table stand) and stretcher can reach the bed without the need to do a 'slalom' around objects.

Addendum
It has nothing to do with bathrooms, but with patient room design in general. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2077153318
That's a bed in the ICU. The white tiles indicate that space that has to be free from objects. All the necessary stuff (that the game engine demands + the not strictly needed but 'realisticly' needed decoration) sits on the sides of the room. I find that more 'spacious' rooms give the game a better feel.
