In Review
These should've been in the DLC - I felt that the Soda Fountain, Cafeteria Counter Corner, and Stack of Plates/Bowls/Trays should have definitely been included. Would have just polished it off nicely. Night time janitor manager should be a must.

This is a want for sure - I'd would have really liked to have seen the ability to put in an HR dept or Admin Offices with the "workers" being administrative personnel who would have reduced operating, salary, or other costs. Also, they'd handle auto training for specific departments or rooms.

All-in-all I am highly appreciative of the great work and DLC, it was perfect price point and not a disappointment at all. :cozytreshcone:

I do agree that there have been some short-cuts made, even though we had suggested some of these things likely before they even started work on the DLC.

I'm pretty sure you can hire a night-time janitor manager though.

Though because the DLC is out now, the chance any of this stuff will get added is basically 0. Nonetheless, there's always future DLCs!

Hmm, maybe I'm missing something like a corridor access with the night time Janitor Manager. I think because it's only accessed through my cafeteria it's probably preventing it. Maybe... I'll check.

Checked again and I def can not hire a nighttime janitor manager in my Office Services room. Keeps saying I can't hire for that shift for that room. Welp guess I will go bug report.

Correct me if I'm wrong; but, does it show an empty employee slot for the office in the dept management view?

And 2, have you made sure you have janitors on your night shift?
TheShaudi Apr 26, 2020 @ 7:03pm
Oh it shows the slot. I've got plenty of janitors on night shift. Running a hospital of 170+ so that's not it. Every time I click the night shift slot it gives me the message that I can not hire for that slot for that room.

This is a small issue though - I'll kick it over to them through bug reports.

I'm hoping to get some more people behind at least getting the items that help polish off the DLC into a near future update!

I'm pretty sure not being able to hire a janitor manager to night shift is a feature, not a bug. It's administrative work, why you need it at night?
MedJet Apr 26, 2020 @ 9:17pm
I'd like to see some additional functional pieces in the cafe and gift shop, however, I'm afraid a human resources office would likely be nothing more than a "wage sink" since players are the defacto human resources manager.
TheShaudi Apr 27, 2020 @ 9:50am
@medjet in hindsight your prob right. Managing the hospital is essentially the game. Though by that reasoning why have Janotor Managers - since they’re no different that the admin staff helping “efficient” the janitors.

@torcai Admin work can be done at night. However my question is - are the day shift managers impacting night time janitors? Or are they just the lawless shift workers of the dark? XD

The HR office could affect your staff in certain ways. What about
  • number of staff members in your hospital depends on the 'cumulative HR skill level' (f.e. every 'star' of the HR manager allows you a staff limit of 20 --> for a 200 staff member limit, you would need 10 stars --> that could be provided by two lvl 3 HR managers + two lvl 2 HR managers)
  • reduction in salaries, varied by the skill level of the HR manager
  • random chance for an employee to lose a negative trait
  • random chance for an employee to gain a positive trait
  • random chance you can hire a genius-level employee (like with the interns you get as a reward)
  • higher chance to prevent an employee to leave you (well ... that would require that employees leave from time to time - that would spice up the game!)
  • an event based boost to overall staff morale (like those new admin events)
  • higher HR level could 'sooth' your employees to tolerate less favourable conditions (e.g. workload, dirty floors)
There are a many possibilities.
TheShaudi Apr 27, 2020 @ 11:15am
@obrkampfkater yes that’s it precisely. I do think there a good bit of direction it could be taken. More like the HR office would supplement the players management.

while I'd personally like to see an HR office that adds some more variability to staff dynamics, I doubt the devs would implement many of these ideas. I do wish there was some sort of progression option whereby employees could be "retired" (on their own or via player) in a manner that sends them off with a "severance" or retirement package that is deducted from the players monetary balance. I've asked for the devs to include more expense items in the game as I find it to be a fun challenge managing making money vs covering op expenses.

I agree. I said in a previous post we NEED age progression and retirement. Having a static age is kind of unrealistic. We could have a system where money is paid into a pension account every month of their employment and when they get to retirement age (around 65 - 70?) they retire and collect tne money from the retirement account. This is a good system too as it means money isn't sucked out in one go which may be fatal for some hospitals with poor finances.

boy I sure hope a dev doesn't come along and shoot down any kind of progression option. Heck I'll pay for it! lol. In terms of the finance side I'm just hungry for more ways to spend and send money out.

Well it depends on which dev responds, one of the people active on here brings good news a lot of the time; but the other one o.O seems to be the bearer of bad news!

Real hospitals have management staff on shift 24/7.
