Walking patients fetch their own food from vending machines or from their bedside tables. Immobile patients take their food from the bedside tables/are fed by the nurses (but their isn't a animation for that).

I place one or two food trolleys per ward, even if they are only decoration at the moment. Maybe sometime in the future nurses actually use them like the janitors use their cleaning trolleys.

The food cart should be in the nurses station. At 8 am I believe is the time, the nurse will grab food from the cart and deliver it to patients' bedside trays, but if you have nurses that arrive late for shift change like mine, they often only have a few minutes to actually deliver food so it often doesn't get done.

Food is delivered three times per day ... but you need to have enough nurses to do so ... otherwise some patients might be hungry.

Hello. How many would be enough? On my surgical ward I've got around 10-14 non-HDU patients, and another 4-8 HDU patients. I see plenty of negative modifier on patients for not getting chow as they should. Presently 3 patient care nurses and 2-3 surgeon / transfer nurses per shift.

There should be a dedicated Food Services department, I work in a hospital so it's just confusing to me to run one in this game and have food magically appear on the wards, not to mention there not being a kitchen you have to build...
Would have to hire chefs, food service staff, etc. Would be a good addition, doesn't make sense without it

Oh - it can make sense. Food for patients is prepared by a third party caterer that delivers the meals to the wards. Onfortunatel, the delivery staff does it thing whenever we pan around and focus our attention on something else. ;)

It is the same with all the washing business ... it's done by a third party outside of our hospital. As for all the administrative staff (paying wages, invoicing health care insurers, etc.).

You are of course perfectly rigth. Food 'appears' out of thin air, but I think we can tolerate that because it's not that important (at the moment at least). PH's focus is more on the 'medical' side at the moment, while the management/administrative side is on the back seat. But if Oxymoron Games sticks with PH and we keep funding it via DLCs, then more of it will come ... the new DLC brings in a whole chunk of new stuff to add to your hospital.
