I solved this by building one single mega-lab. It starts out as a normal prefab stat-lab. When I need more than 2 techs, I add another PC & chair to it (there is space). When I need more, I knock down one of the walls and extend the lab, adding more PCs. I monitor for equipment contention. I will generally build 2 of the commonly used things when I get to 3+ techs. You can add more microscopes/glassware/sinks/analyzers/etc as needed (determined by watching techs to see if they are stalled waiting for equipment).
Atm im using 8 doctors with 8 PCs and 4 of every tech.
