Last Arleon level I had to upgrade my troops and B-line the end boss, because his faction just had so many Towns, I could not keep up, and was failing even at defending myself.
Got all my strongest stacks fully maxed, on CEcilia, and marched on Wiezec (or whatever he is called), because if I tried to defend, I would just slowly lose, since I could only get 3 Wielders, while the enemy has like 8.
I'll probably just stick with skirmish games if the campaign is going to spawn units in places I'd have to commit to memory from previously failing, or save scum, to deal with. Enemies should come from towns or telegraphed locations, not out of thin air
which is a shame, because i love a good campaign
I could not defeat him with one attack, so instead I use one of my expendables and weaken him before.
Also enemy has exactly three wielders like you.
which is a bummer. i was hoping for a string of mostly normal skirmish games but in interesting configurations
Also, worth noting... there's a bunch of magic essence Spires they start under their control so flipping those before repeatedly engaging with them will dull their power spike significantly.
This mission really teaches the value of Magic Resistance.
The fights remind me more of King's Bounty than HoMM, because it is very essential that you lose as few units as possible. In HoMM you could always easily replace losses, whereas in KB replacements were very scarce.
