A Grateful Yet Sad Thank You
I’m not sure if the folks on the dev team come to the forums very often or see posts, so if any of the mods(or anyone( can pass this along to them that would be helpful.

If this is too emotional to be appropriate for this space I apologize, I don't normally make posts.

I wanted to personally thank the team that made this game, the freelancers and everyone that made it a reality too.

Originally, I didn’t really “get” SoC, thought it was alright and let it sit. Being a strategy guy and a fan of HoMM I saw the appeal, but got engulfed in other things. Then the Vanir came out and I got into it. I took on the campaigns, did some conquest testing, and finally got SoC. It became one of my all time favorites.

The hard part of this post/letter will be the following. As I got into SoC, my dog got diagnosed with dementia and went downhill. All through 2024 I saw the little guy I have adored and cared for, for 12 years, slowly have everything that made him- well, him, erode away.

Except when I play Songs of Conquest on my TV. My dog greatly enjoys watching me play SoC, maybe it’s the color palette of the pixel art, maybe it’s the music(he really likes music in general), whatever it is, his anxiety and pain seem to melt when we snuggle up under a blanket and level up wielders(he also really likes the level up sound). It’s nice to see him watch the screen and not howl at a blank wall, or see his lack of a tail wag when the slow-mo camera activates on the final blow.

Thank you dearly, everyone who made this game happen. Not only did you make a wonderful, engaging, and fun work of art, but you also let a man and his dog make some last minute memories, as well as make my dog’s last year of life happier and more comfortable than it otherwise would have been.

I don’t know how any of you will react to this message, but I hope it inspires you all in your creative endeavors, as your works have inspired not only my own works, but to keep going despite all that life has thrown at me in a relatively short period of time.

For what it’s worth, you have my gratitude and admiration for what you have accomplished.

Really looking forward to Roots in the summer!

Thanks again.

-Jordan.

We do read, although less so on holidays.

Today was one of those days that I opened up discussions, to look through feedback and critique, and then I found this.

Thank you so much for putting the effort to write this, it warms the heart and I will make sure the entire team gets to see and read this, it will give them as much as it gave us.

Thank you again for sharing and we're glad that our little pixel homage gave you and your wonderful friend some nice hours together.

/Anders
