Even on fair, I find it incredibly frustrating and have decided to give up. I just don't see how I can ever hold 7 beacons for three whole turns. The only path I can see that might work is to convert all the rana towns so that they have nowhere to respawn, but during the turns I spend converting or razing the towns, the rana will be out grabbing my beacons and they'll probably get to 7. It feels like it will go on forever.

Yeah, I think if at least one of the Rana wielders was permanently defeatable, or Rana and Barya interacted more, it would feel better to play. Having them seemingly walk directly past each other without interacting, and zero in on you only, is kind of frustrating.
jonoliveira12 27 ABR 2024 a las 19:54
Here is how I think the difficulty should be fixed:

-Make 2 of the Rana Wielders permanently defeatable, just like 2 of the Barya Wielders are.
You will still have to deal with 2 factions, with 4 Towns each, sending in a stacked Wielder every few turns, while you have to share 4 Towns for your own 3 Wielders; but at least it would heavily diminish the constant beacon capping from the Rana, which is incredibly hard to deal with, while fighting them back at teh same time.

I just beat it, after a few tries, on ""Fair."" The Rana will not attack you until you attack them, so ignore them until you defeat the tinkers. Then, prepare for a mad dash to the remaining beacons. To beat the final boss, I sent one army to thin her out while expecting to die, then sent in the main one to finish her off.

I mainly (okay, almost entirely) used legionary skeletons and banes. I used a lot of aggression and the 8 cost one, plus multi-ranged attack+all army damage bonus to deliver the damage with banes, while lines of guarding legionaries protected them. Towards the end, I used the skeleton spawners to generate lots of mana: don't actually send the skeletons in, they will just be free momentum for your foes.

I'm a bit angry that you can up screw your entire campaign if you built up your characters wrong over the earlier missions.

What skills are you giving your wielders to beat it i built mine mostly around magic
LexGeneralis 28 ABR 2024 a las 6:23
Uff, currently trying it again. Unfortunataly, leveling up so far is not good to me. Can't get any magic tier up, just crap. But I really need it. I really need destruction and order.

Hi there!

Feedback like this is amazing, sure we can see some statistics and we have internal testing but difficulties are one of the trickiest things to "get right". I would love to know what difficulty you (and everyone else) played on. These statements say one thing if you have played on "fair" and one thing when you play on "worthy".
Hello Devs! I played on worthy. This mission is the only one i couldn't beat and i found it quite unbalanced compared to the previous missions, at least in my opinion.

Do you know wich update you played on? It would help us a lot if we knew this!

I played this mission on April 20, if i'm not mistaken we were on update 0.97

I did this mission on the 4th of April and it felt like I was playing on Easy, I literally steamrolled my opponents.
Naruto0408 29 ABR 2024 a las 22:26
And this is the issue with game difficulty lol

Some folks feel like game is a steam roll (even on max difficulty)

While other folks somehow think easy is way too hard

I've been trying that "an empress's hope" mission for like 4 hours today (3 tries, a lot of save scumming and I never make it).

I play on worthy difficulty, I managed to finish a 8 player ffa map on worthy last week and played the whole campaign on worthy so I'm quite familiar with the game but like OP says, this is F U difficulty.

What is wrong is that I can never manage to kill one of main hero's opponents, even if I turtle up, wait for 9 slots on my main hero, get +3 on all my units and max stacks.
The army composition + artefacts on the other races are way too strong : How the hell do you down a full dragon army that has super high initiative army with undead...
At the same time the other faction is so maxed out on magic that he breaks your army in half without you having started to fight.

So yeah, I don't have the -75% magic dmg skill which would help, but I really don't want to replay the whole campaign.

Even if you try to run, the opponent always goes further than you, so outrunning doesn't work (and outrunning for what use, you can't get 7 beacons without killing them).

Overall undead feels pretty weak compared to other races and especially in this mission.

I am playing on 'Fair'.

As I stated above, I feel like 'Fair' was a bit easy, and then it fell off a cliff on the mission this thread is about.

Also: Thank you so much for replying in here, it really does mean a lot to have the developer pop in and acknowledge the issue's some of us have been having.

I am playing on Fair (yes, I play relaxed), and even though teh Arleon and Rana Mission 4s gave me a challenge, they did not frustrate me to the point the Loth Mission 4 does.
I am not averse to a challenge, specially in the end of a campaign, but the Loth one does not actually seem "Fair".

Well that does sound like we need to calm things down a bit, thank you so much for getting back to us!!

I just finished all 3 campaigns in 21 hours. Last mission was interesting I did not find it hard. Reason all are having hard time is probably due to arcana essences being weaker(my opinion) than others. Also if you fail to build properly you can loose(no magic resistance no level 3 magic and no fast research). Making markets in secondary towns so you ca trade for research is a must also. On the 4th lolth map just go north and take Barya big town. Around 50 turns or so you should be able to . Now you have 2 bases and rana only 1, if you use the beacons to teleport it is easy. For people who say this is hard I understand but it is the last mission it is supposed to be hard ! Also you can trick the AI just garrison a town and let the I pass you by. Than you go and steal his base. The AI is good in battles but is still weak. Or let the AI take a crap town(wastes to 2 turns) than you go and take his base. The AI does not raze for some reason.

Made it somehow even earlier and gathering now new strength, go for more research, more production and level up wielders. Once that is done, I'll make my move for Rana.
