green circle - last oponent starting area
red square - block/empty space, its like 1/4 maybe even 1/3 the whole map. After a few games in randoms maps I dont see any good reason to play them.
However, starting type/number of settlements definitely would be a pretty big improvement on things. Idk how much work would go into that but it seems like it shouldn't be the hardest thing ever.
Many people don't wanna start in a small settlement or to start in a larger settlement but then have a smaller settlement somewhere else. I think most people just wanna start with 1 town and that's it... although at the same time making it that boiled down would take away choice from those who disagree too.
I tried to summarize the main problems of the map generator here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/867210/discussions/0/6853996379937524902/
