How good is AI?
I love single player games, how good is the AI in this game?

Pretty good honestly. Best example is how it uses the various spells. Many spells are cc-oriented and not just deal dmg, and it utilises these very smartly. One instance from my play time is when I’m defending a town, it’ll use the swap spell to swap one ranged unit of mine positioned on the town walls/highground with a ground unit if the AI, basically killing my unit and breaching the inner town at the same time.

Idk how AI related is this where the AI creates the troop compositions it if the devs already programmed the wielder and troops, but most wielded you fight have great composition and win conditions. They choose excellent skills for their wielders and run troop comps to synergies with it. Like one wielder (on worth difficulty) taking a heavy buff army, using a spell that buffs atk and def and s-def, and the wielder specing it’s that essence type and has troops that give that essence type, and taking skills that further reduce damage types like spell or ranged. Now you face an army that always goes first, buffs all stats asap so they take little dmg and deal a lot.

Unfortunately this case is an extreme since you can’t really do anything to counter it at this point, but I digress.

AI has map wide visibility at all times.

It does and does not at the same time.. While it has full map uncovered it doesn't see through fog of war. It knows where stuff is but doesn't see any movements on it or change in it. You can cosider that it has knowledge of the maps as player would after many games on it.

No they definitely know when they can pounce on a wielder at max range, bypassing lots of other plunder which would take up movement.

They used to, but that got patched quite a while ago. The thing is, you don't always know, if you're not within a scouting tower of theirs.

Also, them ignoring certain loot or not claiming mines or essence towers sometimes is an issue with the AI in general and usually works in your favor. It's gotten better, but i still see them run past mines, only to go back and claim them 1 or 2 turns later. Maybe it's deliberate on Worthy or lower, to mimic unoptimized player movement.
Edit: Though, sometimes i see a secondary Wielder pick those up, which is smart, actually, since you can optimize the movement for exploration on your main wielder with the big army if you have a secondary Wielder right behind you. It's a bit like that one Adventure Time-meme.

This patch too, it still happens.

AI has god vision still in some campaign maps. It's extremely frustrating watching it perfectly move despite not having any way to know where your units are. Every other aspect of the game is very enjoyable (spells are a bit basic though)
