Help with Act 1 Mission 4 (RESOLVED)
I've been playing through the campaign on fair and so far have been having an excellent time and have found the mission to provide a fun challenge but not frustratingly difficult, that is until I hit mission 4 in The Song of Stoutheart. It seems like no matter what I do I can't beat the AI, I'll have full armies with fully kitted out Wielders and upgraded troops get nearly wiped to fight the enemy wielders only for them to pop back in 2 turns later and just destroy me, I've been at this for nearly 2 hours and I am at my wits end. If anybody knows any tips for beating with mission please help.

EDIT: I managed to beat it utilizing the advice in this Thread

It's possible, that you were just a bit too slow in exploring and building up your Wielders and army early on Mission 4. Don't be afraid to take on "Risky" or "Worthy" neutral camps. With the right spells and/or troops, you often can take these on with minimal or no losses. You can experiment by abusing quicksaves.

If you have a fully stacked and kitted out army, you try and sneak past the roaming Wielders and let them have their way with your settlements, since the win condition is beating Wiesh, who will just sit in the enemy town as far as i know. If you have a fully upgraded army, he shouldn't be too difficult to deal with.

With the experience and knowledge gained from playing the game a little, you could also re-play the previous missions, explore more for potentially missed artifacts or build Cecilia a little different to match the kind of army, you would like to go for on Mission 4.

When you are talking about "full armies" and "upgraded troops", are we talking about armies with the army-size-upgrades from the academy and unit-upgrades from the grand armory?

Have you wasted turns with waiting and doing nothing on the map in the early-stages of the mission? The AI gets stronger over time and it's a race on who gets stronger faster. You can pick up tons of free units in the Faey-forrest to the east and get a free city to the north.
You can also skip a lot of the AI's territory and avoid their wielders by going around the south. Your mission is to find and defeat Wiesh. It's not even necessary to fight the other wielders.

Mission 4 is doable also for new players. From the start of the game you need to split 2 armies and one wielder should take big city north mid asap. You can deal with strong enemy wielder, but it is doable, because a lot of neutral units will join to you. Once you will get this city, it will be much more easier for you. Goal is to capture city north west, but be careful, there is strong army with strong wielder. You must be prepare for this.
You need to be aggresive an quick. If you waste your time you will lose.
You can also save load if you make a mistake. If you are new, it is understandable, that you will have problems, mission is harder.

You just need to get to the castle in the upper right corner. From this castle you can defend yourself as much as you want.

I'm stuck here too atm. Restarted the mission completely once because first time I just got mopped by enemy wielders. Didn't take the north town then and made the mistake of expanding to the west too early instead of the middle.
Second time got further, but it seems to be futile at some point already. I can kill 8 of their wielders and they just come again with a fully upgraded army and I can't defeat any of them then. Feels the mission is intended to be cheesed or somehow won with unconventional strategies.
Though I could just focus on middle and bottom part and enemy wielders avoided the militia camps, but at some point they are just so overpowered that they swipe them off the map and take away all the loot.

I guess I will try next to just rush their base, playing the long game here seems to be a lost cause.

Thanks for the help y'all I beat it, rushed the city in the north and turtled for a little bit while I got upgrades from the armory and academy for my troops and used Stormspire and Gnaw to kite the AI wielders while I had Cecilia rush Wiesh. Your advice was very helpful

I had to restart the mission after encountering the same issue, but learning from the mistake I was able to beat it by quickly heading north as fast as I could and not over extending, once you beat the enemy heroes their first army is strong but if you recruit all the humans and fey in the area and put them in your main army you should be able to beat them as when they return a couple turns later it's with a smaller force.

As long as you keep fighting those returned heroes and killing them before they build back up you can gradually expand, using the main hero in the north and the two minor heroes in the south and west.

and get the army size upgrades before you get the army stat upgrades, the bigger your stack is early on the easier it is to fight both the AI and neutral mobs

I beat 4 enemy heroes in a row with a strong army and at some point a hero came out with a small army of 30 damned 2 squads, and they will one-shot any of my squads. At the same time, the parameters of my hero are higher than the enemy’s hero, but his unit still has 126,126 attack and defense, and this is after a battle with my other hero, specifically to remove buffs for 1 battle. And despite the fact that I see that he has green objects. How is that possible?

Update: I managed to beat it yesterday! I split my wielders and took vital settlements and resources, and avoid Rowan where I could. I've written a small tips collection how I did it in another thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/867210/discussions/0/4338734057914832993/?ctp=6#c4333105245239575670

I think it is because they got the armory and academy upgrades at that point, if they oneshot you there I suggest starting over from an earlier point, because you won't be able to keep up.
