I am biased of course but if you want to create armies you should buy our game and if your are more into a gritty story you should buy War tales.
Their devs are real nice to!
War Tales to me looks like Baldur's Gate or Pillars of Eternity, but maybe it's not true.
Technically Songs of Conquest should offer more replay value in the long run when the game is completed, but they are completely different games, whose only connection is turn-based combat.
You have to decide what type of game you prefer more.
