Only huge problem is you can't watch your friends or team mates battles, so if ANYONE goes into a battle, entire game freezes for everyone until it's over. An archaic system.
If they are going to use graphics from the 80s, that does not mean they have to use multiplayer mechanics from the 80s too.
JimJamFlimFlam (awesome name) says it correctly. There is a co-op experimental version online wich lets you duke it out together with your friends against the AI.
in Q2 we will have a focus period where that will get some more work done on it so that it can go from experimental to a more standard version.
I should note too that it works really well. Simultaneous turns are supported, we had no desyncs, and it has a lot of other very nice QoL things I actually haven't seen come together in multiplayer games often.
One thing I hope they add is the ability to watch other human fights (right now it locks down movement while the fight is going on). In this thread a dev responded saying they were working on that as well as a way to have you take control of enemy AI if you want.
Unfortunately the game launched the 1.0 version without the "watch other players fight" feature.
It's sad because for multiplayer, the fights are a very big part of the fun.
So if you can't even watch a friend fight, or take control of at least one of it's unit, I can think it's inviable to hope for a "battle together" option in the future. :( Any updates into that?
