Does having multiple Marketplaces give better exchange rates?

This - i had no idea that multiple markets gave better exchange rates. I knew they had in HOMM but didn't see anything saying they did in this game. Glad they do though.

Currently 5 marketplaces max'es out the exchange rate for the most part I believe.

Another non-obvious feature. You can build buildings smaller than the lot size. For example, medium building in a large lot.

As far as I can tell, they max out at around 4 or 5 markets. After that, and there's no more improvements in exchange rate. I haven't been able to figure out what the exact exchange rates are or if there's diminishing returns and you can build 283 marketplaces to get better discounts.
