Season 4 Episode 2 - the killing a walker bug that I have encountered

So basically many people that have been playing the final season of The Walking Dead The Final Season Episode 2(sadly maybe the final episode of the series) may have not encountered this game-breaking glitch that stops me to progress further in the game. As I said, many people have no clue what I am talking about since I never did find a solution online which is the reason why I wanted to start a discussion in the first place. But anyway, with apologies for the sidetracking I will proceed with explaining my issue:

At the start of episode 2, shortly after the intro has already played, I get to the part where Clem and AJ are kicked out of the school and are forced again on the road. They get to the woods where they encounter Lily and they start running to escape Lily and her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ friend which leads to AJ getting shot. Clementine reaches him, he gives her a knife and when she sees that they are surrounded by walkers and has to take them out. From there a QTE sequence(shall I call it) starts where I have to kill the walkers. But the issue is that when I proceed to take down the walker with B to stun him and Y to kill him (on a xbox controller) nothing seems to work and I Clem doesn't attack. From there nothing happens and I cannot continue the game because of this. I even tried with keyboard controls but there was no effect even there.

Any reasonable and helpful suggestions for fixing this problem will be appreciated. If I am going to finish this game in a sad tone because of the fact that we will never see the end of it I would want to at least experience everything that is given to me from it.

Try verifying the game files. I don't know how that'll help but try it. If it still doesn't work i'm sure there is someone out there who knows the answer. Just be patient.
