Episodes are locked out

I have re-installed this game now more than 10 times, episode 2 and 3 are locked out, when im restarting episode 1, its not even saving, when im launching the game again its asking me to restart from chapter 1 again, I have even played episdoe 2, got achievements for it here on steam, but now I can't even start episode 2 its locked out, I have asked steam for a refund, but I have played more than 10 hours and pre ordered this game even before its release, so steam is not giving me a refund, any solution please how can I fix this game now?

i am assuming that it thinks you have not completed episode one this is why ep2 and ep3 are locked. The question therefore is what is blocking your game from saving files. Some AV has been known to cause this such as bitdefender as it has a ransomware protection which prevents apps from writing to My Documents if it does not have permission, this sort of behaviour has been known to upset games as they cannot make the saves they want until the exe has been granted permission. In your my documents folder do you have a Telltale games folder with save data in it

Hi, thank you so much for your time and reply, yes I have the save folder in my documents folder, and I have all backups from season 1, have tried deleting the folder and started a new game, still having the same issue, I think I lost my 6 years proggress now lol, its working fine till season 3, but I can not play season 4 anymore with the previous backed up save files or with a fresh new default save folder

I have had this same issue. Additionally, if I play all the way to the end of episode 1, it does not load the choice statistics data and there is no way to quit out of the credits screen without closing the game entirely.

I currently have a ticket open with Skybound and have been communicating back and forth with one of their technicians. No solution yet, but I will let you know if we find one.

Hi, thank you so much @Lavode, even I have submitted a ticket, they asked me to run a tool, then asked me to add the game to my antivirus exclusion list, did everything still its not fixed, game is not saving any progression, even if I come across some solutions will let you know

Yeah, I ran the tool and they had me delete some files, but no fix yet. Still working with them.

Alright, try this. In your game library, right click on the game, select Properties, then Updates. Un-check the box that enables Steam Cloud. Next, uninstall the game and delete the folder for The Final Season, which can be found in Documents > Telltale Games. Last, reinstall the game and make sure that the Steam Cloud is still disabled before starting it up again.

wow you are a life savour, this worked like a charm, all my episodes are unlocked now, and save game is working, i played for a while and checked back again and now I can continue without restarting the episode again. Thank you so much

but is it not possible to not lose save? I ended first episode and don't want to do it again :(

Once it is lost, it's gone. If you do the fix I listed above, you will have to replay the episode, but shouldn't have the same issue after. Assuming it is the same problem I ran into. Unfortunately I do not have a solution that will recover what you just played.

Imho, you dont have to replay. Try this steps: copy save games, uncheck, delete everything, start game, exit, copy saved games back, start game again. These steps can also help you to get all achievements.

The main problem is that the game doesn't save, with this particular bug. There isn't a save to copy.
