Marlon feels like a wasted opportunity -SPOILERS-
If you're reading this, then you probably already know what happens to Marlon at the end. While his death really got to me in the moment, it feels like they could have done something great with him.
It's like with Ben in Season 1. The only difference is I didn't like Ben, and I don't think anyone did. It felt like he was trying to save himself, and he was just so pathetic. Marlon felt like he could have been Ben done right.
While Duck and Kat couldn't have been saved, Sophie and Minnie could because their fate is still unknown. They had a chance to have a character successfully redeem himself for putting someone else in danger. He looked like a rough, acne-riddled bully, but he opened himself up at the end. I felt like I could sympathize with a young man making a bad decision when the pressure became too much.
THEN AJ HAD TO F***ING SHOOT HIM EVEN THOUGH HE WAS STANDING THERE DOING NOTHING
I hope they can do something good with Marlon's death, and make it interesting in some way. Or make AJ a better character because of it

I feel like Telltale did a dumb move when they made AJ shoot Marlon. Some people already disliked AJ, and now they possibly made people hate AJ for what he did. I wonder how they make him likable again in episode 2 :/

Difference between Marlon and Ben is that Ben at least wanted to make things right after what he did while Marlon only wanted to cover his tracks and run away. Not to mention Marlon maliciously tried to kill Clem twice, something Ben would never do.

Marlon wanted to sell Clem and AJ to raiders and tried to kill Clem twice. And since Clem means the world to AJ, that made Marlon in AJ's eyes too drastic a threat to let him live. That's why he shot him. And that's totally understandable and justified.

I'm glad he died tbh. We basically found-out he was Ben 2.0 at the last second.

But this is how Tell Tale goes.

Look back through the series and pick out the characters who seemed to be good and likeable at first, but then suddenly we find out they are useless, evil, corrupt, manipulative, have secrets or told someone one of our secrets, trying to sell us, trying to eat us etc. It's extremely predictable. Even AJ and the gun was predictable. It was just a matter of who he would shoot and when and how badly he and Clem would be blamed for it.

I was hoping for one these characters to develop more and truly redeem themselves. Imagine if Marlon lived and promised to change? He turns over command to someone else...maybe Clem? But later on Clem is in a situation when she is FORCED to trust him again; Would you trust him? It adds way more tension than him just being killed so soon in the story. He easily could show he hasn't change and be killed later on, but so soon seemed a bit wasted.

Or Marlon's death could unravel the group, a power stuggle for leadership could ensue.
His death could be the catalyst that starts the complete breakdown or salvation for the school with all sorts of subplots. He seamed to keep everyone in check ,now that he's dead anything could happen. Imagine how the next meeting with the group that took Ten's sisters is going to go with Clementine doing (you) the talking and Ten out for blood because he saw what AJ did and now knows he too can be strong and fight back.

At first I also thought that Marlon was a wasted opportunity, but then I thought about it and saw his character probably joining up with the raiders and just being an utter annoyance. I also agree with Dethlane about how Ben ultimately had good intentions and would never mean any harm, whereas Marlon knew exactly what he was doing and Marlon even said he'd do it again if he was given the chance.

Aye. AJ is a little brat. Diary and police man further proved this. Kid needs some discipline.

Well, he probably hasn't been around enough decent people other than Clem growing up. He said at the train station "No one's here. No one's ever anywhere". We know he was being watched over at the ranch when Javier's brother in season 3 (idfk his name, season 3 sucked as a whole), maybe the owners there treated AJ like crap. Maybe the ranch owners were disrespectful and he's simply going by what they did.
I think he still has potential to not be an annoying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I really don't know how they are meant to come back from that one. AJ shooting him when unarmed and from behind is unredeemable, at least if someone called Marlon a monster (or he called himself that) it would have made more sense.

But look at Clems history, where ever she finds a settled community she tends to destroy it (Cabin and lodge groups, Howes Hardware, Wellington, Prescott, and Richmond would have fallen if not for Jesus and his group).

Carver knew she was a sociopath now it is being played out in AJ.

He is a monster, after what he tried to do to Clem and what he did before. AJ shooting him is understandable and justifiable.

Complete and utter bullsh*t. Clem has absolutely no intention of destroying folks lives and she has nothing to do with it (except making escape from Howes, but that's not destroying). Cabin group got on a run because of Carver, lodge group was taken alongside cabin one by him, Howes can survive if they repel the walkers attack, Wellington was attacked by raiders, Prescott was overrun because of old new frontier, Richmond would have fallen because of old new frontier (namely Joan and that ba$tard who threw molotov on the truck Kate was driving) if not for Javi, Clem and Kate.

Carver knew Clem was strong of character and will. She is not a sociopath, that's just your twisted opinion. And AJ simply doesn't comprehend some of "basic" community stuff because he grew up in an apocalypse world.

I really hope so. I WANT to like AJ, but so far that's been a moot point.

I am wondering how on earth did AJ get behind Marlon without the camera showing him or Marlon or anyone else seeing him? He was literally right in front of Marlon when he had the gun.

I am kind of mad at AJ. I really like Violet and Louis and if his actions mess up Clem's friendships I'm going to be pissed.

Did anyone else get AJ and Tenn confused?? When Clem wakes up after the car accident and sneaks out of the room she was held in, Tenn appears with a little knife or something and looks into the room, I thought that was AJ and I was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ confused. Why did they have two little black kids that look the same??

They don't look the same at all. Different face, different haircut, different clothes.
