They’ve collaborated with Limited Run in the past so it’s a possibility, I’d say just stay tuned to their social feeds and maybe they’ll announce something eventually.
Think of the amount of people who play DLSS upscaled games on a daily basis - it's almost the same thing. Arguably, AI upscaling old footage to preserve it's original tone and contents while improving clarity is one of the best uses for AI upscaling.
I see no problem with it. Were they to remake the original cutscenes that would probably look vastly different or have a different feel to it - now, if they could get their hands on the source code/visuals for these cutscenes and re-render it, that would probably be the best.
No way are they getting their hands on the source code, that will be long gone.
Happy to support ND on this one given I'm hoping they'll do a SS2 remake like the original.
