Quest "Radiation Dive" Timer apparently set to 0 seconds; cannot be completed.
In the quest Radiation Dive, there is supposed to be a time limit to deliver some isotopes to a planet. You're given the package as you leave the station, and then the timer is ticking.

Except it's not. There is no timer visible. You just have to guess how well you're doing.

Worse, there's no timer invisible either. You can't win the quest. There is no win condition.

In a ship made of maxed-out engines and the generators to power them, with almost nothing else, nailing each gate as fast as possible, total time under 30 seconds, I'm still given a "You took too much time" message and sent back.

The quest is either bugged or unfinished, because it can't be completed. The only thing I can think of is farming the thousands of research points needed to max out the hopper, and jumping from gate to gate in under ten seconds.

That's more than a little ridiculous.

Fix it please, and give us a visible timer to see how we're doing.

OK, so if you try it a few more times, eventually the research guy will tell you that using the normal warp nexuses (not the artificial gates) causes the game time to jump forward several hours for some pseudosciency technobabble reason. It would've been nice to have that mentioned at some point in game before then, but I don't know when a good time would've been to just bring that up offhand.

So the trick is to get to the system using as few (normal) nexus jumps as possible. This might require you to get some of the deep space boost techs, but those are pretty nice upgrades to get anyways.

On a side note, there is an in-game date and time always on screen, so remembering the 4-digits which represent the time when you left Kite Station shouldn't be too difficult. This game takes a more minimalist approach to quest tracking, and while the map and UI have gotten many quality of life improvements over the last several months, I really appreciate the fact that it doesn't hand you the answers and actually makes you figure some things out.

there is a clock on the screen telling you the Date & time of day as you travel.
the mission dialogue clearly says 5 hours.

Spoiler ALERT : how to complete this mission easy
Do NOT use any Nexus Jumps; only use the alien WarpGate in your stations home system.
You need to unlock the alien WarpGate that is North West ish from the Target system.
Then it is easy to fly there from that warpgate in very little time at all.
Redesign your ship if your to slow for more speed.

Good luck ahve fun

Found this out last night - in that system northwest of target system is an industry world with switches that effect the gate in orbit - bump with your ship so it orients south east a bit - then its a trivial matter to jump from Kite System to that system - turn it on so switches say on on on off - go through and it should put you very close if not on top of target planet

I have pesky hostile aliens in system this quest is no possible to finish, I can reach planet in time but after I kill them is already late and they re-spawn to fast.

those alien warp gates ARE the nexus gateways. I dunno what the normal wormholes are called, but the teleporting ones are nexus gates.
I think the intended solution is to go to a nexus gate south of it, align the two mass drivers (one can be turned) and use them. That brings you directly to the target system. EDIT: must have misremembered it, those two mass drivers are somewhere else. See R2_Opus2, he's correct.
Any nearby nexus gate will work if you have the warp hopper or fast engines tho.

things to keep in mind is that the normal wormholes look really fast, but also speed up the clock quite a bit, you're faster time-wise when not using them. Nexus gates are instantanious

@zlyorg: you don't have to clean the whole system of aliens, you just don't have to have them near the planet. Usually just racing to the planet lets you interact with it unless you got unlucky. Using the mass driver method tho should give you enough time
