Will also note that you can use the rat poison on Orson's drink and have him get sent to the bathroom instead. From there you can go do what ever you're trying to do in the mission. People getting sick doesn't send NPCs into an alert state.
Rat poison simply acts exactly as chloroform does: well, not "exactly" because they start to puke .. but in terms of allarm is the same.
Found a way in the end anyhow: just wait till they go to sleep doing simply ... nothing... than kill her in her bad and find your way to your boat evading guards.
They are not alarmed so it's quite easy too.
Boring but effective.
I DID NOT say that rat poison acts like chloroform. That said, it doesn't alert NPCs at all. When they're done puking they'll just return to what ever pattern they normally go through.
(Added) Just tested it and chloroform in Orson's drink does trigger a Search state when he gets knocked out by it and Reynard gets a tad spooked but otherwise stands in place. Rat poison sends him somewhere on the ground floor where he vomits but no Search state is triggered.
(Granted, this was done on the drink on the ground floor he takes a sip out of but still. I was testing what happens when he gets poisoned by rat poison and when he gets knocked out by chloroform.)
Straight up, better to wait for her to move from there before killing her and use rat poison on Orson's drink so he's not in the room when Reynard is killed. After that is either dealing with Orson the old fashioned way or just sneaking past him as he vomits and taking out, or distracting, the guard that is stationed just in front of the bedroom door.
Will also note that knocking out Orson with the chloroform triggers a scene where Reynard puts her guards on high alert. This scene does not trigger when Orson goes off to puke in the bathroom. In fact, she just ends up saying some generic lines that various NPCs have when they see that someone is sick. No alert, no search state, and she'll just go to bed and wait on Orson to be done being sick.
Also for the starting mission, she can randomly choose between Sugar and Honey. You can either keep trying until you get it right or just poison both. It sounds like you just are using the wrong poison OP and that your problem will go away using rat poison instead.
Reminds me, is there lethal poison in the Hawke's Bay mission? Or is that something you have to bring in yourself when you have it unlocked?
Apparently, there is. Didn't notice there was lethal poison in the upstairs bathroom. Guess it was placed there so those playing the demo can do all of the assassination methods.
(Added) The poison is in a locked storage cabinet on the wall by the bathtub. Explains why I never saw it.
Point is [ ad i already tested three times] she simply start to puke where she is and that is.
Which leads me to another question: which difficulty level are you guys plaing at?
I'm at Professional.
If it isn't because of that, so i really donnow what to say.
I have Completed the mission killing only her and not being detected now anyhow.. it's enough to me.
whenever I try this strat or just use the Sieker on her, she always goes to the nearby bathroom by herself. I'll go test the honey/sugar emetic poison method I guess.
edit: I tried it on Professional, poisoned both her sugar and honey and waited, she did go to the nearby bathroom for an easy drowning. Keep in mind they may linger in their spot if you bump them or if they are trying to say something.
I think the hard part of that one is just getting down into that bathroom. Though assuming an opening does eventually present itself before she stops vomiting... or a few tossed coins might be enough to create an opening to slip in to deal with her.
