The progress, items and levels are carrying over from Steam to EGS though.
How is this even relevant to the conversation?
Completely separate from the EGS/Steam/Stadia/Whatever issue ioi has already confirmed that PC to PC transfer of progress from H2 (steam) to H3 will function across all release points whether it's Steam, EGS, etc.
Similarly console transfer exists for playstation and Xbox from the old consoles to the new consoles (but only within their brand)
The only thing that doesn't exist is cross over from console to PC or vice versa.
Said every developer over the past decade about their "release" titles
This is the only game I have considered doing it for, it's only because I like Hitman. I don't like Epic launcher, would prefer to have it on Steam or GOG but do not have that option at launch because of the exclusivity deal. Not skipping a game because of a stupid launcher, but will buy it on my preferred launcher when it is on sale on Steam.
Anti-consumer practices does not excuse an illegal act like pirating.
Besides, have you forgotten that this game has an online requirement for progression?
The Challenges feature, which is only available in online mode, brings a lot of fun and replay value to this game and helps give the player an incentive to explore the locations and unique methods of killing the targets.
It's not the same experience if you're not working for progression and just use a save file that unlocks all items since the cracked version wouldn't connect to IOI's servers.
Edit: You have to buy Hitman 3 to get Hitman 1 for free within the first 10 days of launch. So if you wait and buy it after 10 days you're SOL when it comes to playing content from that game for free.
^This and Hitman 2 won't even be free
Rather than take the time to develop a platform that is functionally equal or superior to their competition they simply bribe developers to offer players an inferior experience.
Also Epic needs to up their game with their storefront. Make it better than Steam and not just bribe the right people. It will not work long term because there are people like me that might not even purchase the game when it comes out on Steam because all the hype is gone. Still havent purchased BL3 because any excitement I had was gone when I found out it would be a year before I could play it the way I wanted to. Plus the pre-quel sucked.
It's not even exclusive on PC, you can also play PC version on Stadia.
Epic literally only paid ioi to not put the game on Steam. It can be sold everywhere else with an Epic game key or through Stadia.
Its unfortunate IO chose to go down this route (even if they aren't the sole proprietor to blame, they are culpable since they chose to limit its access in the first place).
