"Explosive Liaison" challenge not working (Miami) (SOLVED)

Long story short: the aforementioned challenge in Hitman 2 isn't completing for me because the bomb somehow keeps being a dud for some reason. I used MrFreeze2244's guide on it and turned on potato-quality graphics for max performance, so I don't think it's lag or timing. But Sierra Knox's car just still won't explode whenever the proper event triggers.

If anyone can tell/show me how to fix this, it'd be appreciated.


SOLUTION: You NEED to be in a Kowoon disguise and it HAS to be the car bomb. The bomb itself is in the safe in the security office, as is Knox's phone number. The combo for THAT is on one of the office's desks. After infiltrating Sierra's pit (the red one) and installing the car bomb, you NEED to find a key card for the bay and infiltrate the Kowoon pit (the lime green one). Then get a mechanic's disguise from there, THEN call Rob Knox. Finally, once you give him the detonator, IMMEDIATELY start running as far away from the overpass as you can. This part probably isn't needed, but it may help. The dolphin fountains and Kronstad building entrance should be far enough.

Have you installed the car bomb in Sierra Knox car? Any bomb will not do, you have to get the bomb from the safe from the security room. Put on knox car mechanic disguise, plant the bomb on sierra's car at the knox station, now put on kuowoon mechanic outfit, call the number given in the safe from the telephone (at the main default entrance). Knox will want to meet you at the overpass, give him the trigger, and watch as he uses it, and realises what he has done...

That's what I've been doing. But every time Robert hits the button, Sierra's car doesn't blow up. The mine blows up due to the "Searching" cue above the mini-map, but the car stays intact for some reason. Something tells me it's a Save/Load problem. At the time of typing, I've turned off autosaves, as well as setting the difficulty to Casual to minimize problems. I'll see whether or not the autosave thing was the issue, then get back to you.

Nope. Autosaves weren't the issue. I did it in one go on Casual with autosaves off, and no loading of other saves. STILL bugged out.

out of curiousity: what is robert knox's reaction when he pulls the trigger? Does he walk away or...

perhaps it has to do with being spotted or something? Dont worry some solution will come up...

Rob Knox's reaction is something along the lines of "What, nothing happened? This sucks." before walking away.

Sometimes I'm either spotted by an Enforcer or a body is found. It MIGHT have to be with Silent Assassin stuff, but I'm gonna verify the game files before I try that.

I tried explosive liasons again, and it worked... I dont know ahy it didnt work for you...

I know the STRATEGY is the same, but I'd like to hear any extra details that you encountered along the way. (Ex. Where'd you start? What items did you bring? Were autosaves on? Did anyone spot either you or bodies? Etc.)

Please be as detailed as you can possibly be on this. I'm thoroughly stumped on this.

I started at the main default location. I bought silenced gun, lockpick and coins. My autosaves and saves were on (as in default), Yes I just rushed through the level, some people saw me performing illegail actions, but i either pacified them or did so that it would have too much chaos. Clearly silent asssassin is not an problem in this.

you can approach the level as you see fit as long as it does not cause chaos in front of robert knox and all. however there was one bug i found, robert knox's feet were submerged into the ground.
