How are Ryzen CPU's performing now with the DX12 update?
Anyone out there running the game with the new DX12 update on a Ryzen CPU? Any comments on CPU performance? My understanding is Ryzen CPU's performed very poorly with Hitman 2, largely due to DX12 not being implemented.

Looking at some early post's here, it looks like the overall FPS is lower now with DX12. I'm just hoping that the Ryzen CPU's are performing better now.

2700x here. The FPS isn't significantly different but the frametimes are a lot less consistent (they're not great in DX11) and I get occasional hitching. Seems like this can join the long line of games showcasing DX12's "abilities".

People asked for DX12, saying it would be better as well as saying it was better for 2016... though many said otherwise.

From what i've seen, it's doing an amazing job on intel cpus.[reddit.com]

DX12 is better, when it's implemented and supported well.

However it's pretty hit and miss if DX12 is an improvement over DX11. Hitman 2 runs worse in DX12. Deus Ex: Human Revolution runs better in DX12. Total War Warhammer 1 & 2 run worse in DX12 (and they even claim it's 'beta'), but DOOM 2016 runs better in DX12 by a loooong shot compared to DX11.

I don't know if it's just Devs not knowing how to implement things properly or if it's something else. I mean id shows everyone up when they have both DX12 and Vulkan running buttery smooth and making DX11 look like archaic stone-age junk.

Yes fps increased for about 20% with Ryzen and DX12.

not talking about ryzen but on marakesh plaza i saw improvement of around 40% on min fps.
and in benchmarks min fps were about 25% better for me.
intel cpu amd gpu.
i think it has more to do with your gpu rather than cpu.
amd gpus just love dx 12. and if anything dx 12 should go easier to your cpu.
if you use 10x series nvidia or older they hate dx 12 on the other hand.
20x series does fine.

hitman was basically a game with dx 12 engine in the first place.
performance with dx 11 was much inferior, for dx 12 capable cards.
amd 5xx+ or nvidia 20 should run it much better now

This. Vulkan is the same. The end-user doesn't get to see much change, but the APIs are fundamentally different from their predecessors and it'll take a long time for developers to relearn how to optimise with them, the same as happens when a new console generation rolls around. Unfortunately most are choosing to simply stick with DirectX 11, which they can't do with consoles.

It's very hardware dependent whether dx12 will be an upgrade for any particular person, all you can do is try it and find out

dx12 for me in Hitman (2016) simply made the game crash more frequently while it was rock stable in dx11 and the performance difference in FPS was not notable

But again: everyones experience will be different

I have an R5 1600 (boosted to 3.5ghz) and it's running like a dream for me now. I was getting drops to 45 fps before that are completely gone now, and it even looks sharper. Also, according to Afterburner my CPU usage stays around 40-50%.

Ok, so I just spent some time playing with DX12 in Hitman 2. My PC has a Ryzen 2700X@4.2ghz and RTX 2080.

I don't own the full game, but I am able to play the old Hitman levels since I own Hitman 2016.

Performance is MASSIVELY improved for me. Not FPS so much, but the constant frametime spikes and stutters are now gone. CPU is performing much better now.

Don't know if it's just me but I could swear that the Hitman 2016 levels look WORSE running in Hitman 2 than they do the original game. My FPS is about 15FPS lower running in Hitman 2 vs Hitman 2016.

not anymore, i might have get used to them but id say they re about the same after last month's patch.
used to be worse before that, true

I know what it is. The Hitman 2016 levels in Hitman 2 lack the graphical update that Hitman 2016 got, where it really boosted the color saturation and other elements of the picture.

So far, Sapienza seems to be a little better with DX12 and doesn't drop below 50 FPS as often.
Only issue is that zooming in while sniping may freeze for just a second.
When benchmarking Miami and Mumbai, the framerate are worse unfortunately.
That's all I got, I haven't test the rest of the maps yet.

Its performing considerably better on both AMD Ryzen and Intel multicore CPUs

https://www.reddit.com/r/HiTMAN/comments/b5p79r/some_hitman_2_directx12_benchmarks_massive_fps/

In the comments you can find also Ryzen owners reporting massive FPS improvements. Just because one guy has crappy PC and it doesn't help him, doesn't mean you should believe it. Overwhelming majority is getting ridiculously big FPS gains. If you have i5 you're out of luck though, even with 4-core i5 it will not help, without hyperthreading. The better CPU (with more cores), the more you will gain

Also, this is not about FPS gain, but eliminating FPS drops, which are caused by CPU bottlenecks in DX11. You have to go into certain parts of the maps, to really see the effect. The drops are gone

R5 2600X - GTX 1060 - 16 GB RAM

Better performance with DX12. More stable but there are still drops. But it's better. It's finally playable.
