Challenges might not unlock if you use saves.

I see this problem pop up here daily so thought this might save people time.

Unfortunately if you load from a save the scripts of the game can break the most spectacular way, or other times seemingly nothing changes but challenges won't unlock. This seems to be the most common cause for payers not getting challenges.
I keep a save file to see if it ever gets fixed for existing saves but I don't expect it to happen. If a challenge won't unlock after multiple tries your best bet is to try from scratch and go straight for the challenge.


First encountered it on Hawke's bay I pushed both guys around the pool in it for the No Running on the tiles! challenge and it didn't unlock, considered it bugged moved on came back later and it unlocked right away.

Then on Isle of Isgail Ghost of Janus's past, and funeral with fish didn't unlock after repeated tries. Once this map broke with npcs gathering on the level below the coffin but nobody coming up to the higher level to start the funeral apart from the paper mache npcs.

Then the famous sauna of Hokkaido wich kills right away, this is annoying as it's a convenient and fast way to kill Yuki after you did the hard part then thid ruins your run.

Yesterday I tried to get Soup Sandwich in Colorado which need's to kill two target's as Point man. Every time I went to the start the practice attack on the car the two guys you are supposed to do this with and were next to me during the briefing turned alert right away quickly attacked me instead, unlocked right away without using a save.


There are probably many more cases when this happens, these were just some quick examples. It's annoying if this ruins your run and not much can be done about that until IOI fixes it, but at least challenges can be unlocked if you do them without saves.

This is actually really helpful. The challenge "Photobomb" didn't work for me after so many tries. Just now I tried it without loading a save file and it finally unlocks. Thanks a bunch.

For a script-based game Hitman series has the worst working scripts among all games ever existed!
I know, such a great sand-box demands billions of scripts. But when scripts don't work even in pre-made stories - this is terrible. For example, they still didn't fix a bug in Bangkok, when the target refuses to go on his party.

Dude, other than the race ending sooner, the rest of the game works fine for 99% of people. I reaload a million times and the only big issue I've had was the race.

I have a situation in Hawkes-Bay when one guard didn't leave the boat. Also in Miami the mechanic didn't pick up the phone. So I burried him with ringing phone xD

I have made a thread on that but shave mumbai achievement won't be possible if you save and load in the middle of it as the first customer that comes in after the load will just glitch out and don't allow you to get shaved. 14/15.

Hanging concrete in mumbai spawned in the ground after I changed it's initial position and loaded the save.

Loading saves also breaks a lot of timing related things - such as the race in Miami. If you load a save, the race will immediately be announced as 'entering the final lap' and then finished, even if you just started the stage. Also the Colorado sniper stage of the Patient Zero campaign, Diana will immediately tell you all the traits of the infected targets if you load a game.

Talking about the birthday cake? I had the same issue - "fixed" it by only placing the cake topper. I only poisoned the cake when Cross was right outside the door. If you poison the cake too early, Cross just hangs around upstairs and the challenge can't be fulfilled. Definitely a bug.

I'm aware. And still, 90% of them are about the race. You only need to check this thread to see people "reporting" the race issue as if there weren't 20 replies about it already.

The problem is there and is bad. Don't make it sound even worse than it is.

Most people, don't post here, nor finished the challenges so didn't even start to fool around the maps to veer off the beaten track.

I prefer to play this game with disturbing the world as little as possible, don't really consider an assassin silent if 5 guys are found in rubbish bins after he leaves. So yesterday I spent around 15 minutes try to find my way around a guy.
The next run I noticed he wasn't even standing there as he wanders around but in the previous game his script froze and just stood there.


From another point of view it could also be said that you are downplaying the issue.

Anyone start a post on steam forum where all saving/loading bugs are collected in one place to prevent people from trying and trying and not knowing there is a bug responsible for they are getting stuck in progress ...
