Shooting open gates/doors?

How do you perform this consistently?

I was doing Miami and forgot my lockpick so in frustration I spammed my pistol at the gate and it shot open after about 5-6 shots.

I tried it a second time and it worked but the third time I tried it didn't work, even though I was doing the same thing?

I think it's damage based? If you use a sniper most doors fly right open.

I didn't even know you could use your gun to do that, playing on Master you don't get to use guns often. You can unlock breach charges that destroy the lock.

On master it actually can really help if you plan ahead. On Colorado SA/SO shooting gates open is helpful, if you do it right it doesn't raise any alarms and it frees up things so you don't "need" the lockpick.

Yeah I've been using the Sieger 300 Ghost to shoot certain doors open. You can use it on Sapienza to shoot open the cliffside lab door.

You need a "powerful" weapon. Be it a sniper or shotgun (silenced versions of both do work). The striker also does the trick lol.

The pistol definitely works on metal gates it just takes a few shots. I haven't tried it on wooden doors yet.

Ohhhh so it does work with many shots. Interesting. I simply stopped trying if it didn't work after one shot lol.

We need more testing!
