Guard population in levels...
If I go John Wick...will the population be permanently thinned out? Seems like there's always a few left...but will everyone return in time?

There are no respawns, but be aware most maps may have 50 to 100 guards, some of them in locations you didn't think about and all of them may come running if you start setting off alarms

Some like Colorado and Miami have more than 150 guards

Heh I just figure it out the hard way...was kinda fun though cleaning up all the bodies afterwards so that the one target would go through the motions till he winds up being drownable ;).

not sure about hitman 2 levels but hitmans 1 levels all have around 300 NPCs and even if you go full rambo none of the NPCs will flee the level they will simply run and hide untill its all clear (they have very short term memory) running around as the ninja slicing everyone up is loads of fun, you will get a terrible score rating but sometimes fun outweights your final score (specially if you already unlocked all the mastery levels and done silent assasin)

Are you sure about that...it seems like guards respawn if you hear them call for backup or if they set off an alarm.

this is wrong, if you keep going postal on isgle eventually guards in knight armor will spawn with various weapons will spawn (mp5's rifles, shotguns)

That's an easter egg. It doesn't happen on any other map.

I've done a 100% clear of every map with the exception of Isle of Sgail, guards do not respawn, there is a finite count of every NPC on the map

I've done it both loud with all guards attacking and 100% stealth without being spotted. The only change in kill count is that if you go loud some (non guard) NPC's will run off the map and your total kill count may be slightly lower as a result

There is no change in number of guards on any map other than Isle of Sgail (and I haven't tested that enough to be familiar with the guards in knight armor easter egg, but I would bet you they probably stop after a set number)

What they are calling in when the alarm goes off are guards from further out on the map that would otherwise not normally path near that area on their basic wandering routes

They can call in guards from around the map, but they already exist, they are not new spawns

in hitman 2016 there 100% for sure were no respawns. If guards called for help local guards would come, but if you say cleared out all those guards in the local area, guards from other areas/floors would come.

Some of those other floor guards were from more secure areas and could have sub or full on auto rifles. That was common on most maps.

Maybe they changed it for 2018 but i doubt it. Why would they?

Likely you are just getting guards from other areas because you killed all the nearby guards. Then you went loud and you got them calling for backup and etc.

Each map has a set number of guards and civilians. You can find lists of the totals on 2016s maps. Kinda helpful if your trying to kill everyone.

i really doubt they added respawns.

There is a reinforcement wave on Isle of Sgail, but I died and haven't played with it enough to know if there's a limit after the knights in armor spawn in

Either way it's tons of fun listening to the banter the guards do over the comms...guess I'm easily amused but it's worth it when a guy yells psycho!!! as I toss a screwdriver into someone's head. Or go around tossing axes at everyone.
