SOLVED FOR RAZER USERS: Instant Crash from Boot
Just bought the game, haven't played at all.

Right from the game's boot:

If I click 'Play': The boot screen will close... then nothing happens. Steam even stops seeing the game as active. Some times I'll get a black screen then crash. No error report on either instance.
If I click 'Options': The Options menu opens, instantly freezes up for a few seconds, then crashes. No error report.
If I click 'Quit': The boot window will close... and I'll be happy knowing at least SOMETHING works as intended.

My drivers are up to date. Double verified the game's files. My anti-virus is not blocking anything. Nothing extra is running in the background.

Running on W10 64bit with an NVIDIA card. Got a pretty beefy PC, so that's not much of a concern.

*EDIT*
Also tried moving the game folder to the main hard drive and booting from there. Didn't help.

!!!SOLUTION!!!

Turns out Razer was the big conflict and others are having it too! In order to get both Hitman 2 and Razer to work, try this:

1. Stop Razer from booting up with your PC

Originally posted by timestamp!:
Ctrl+Alt+Del -> task manager -> startup -> razer (if it's there) > disable

2. Restart the computer to make sure Razer is no longer running at all

3. Go to the game's boot screen then select 'Options' which should now be working.

4. In the options menu, there's a check box for Razer Chroma. CHECK IT.

5. Save the changes to the options menu below!

6. Boot Razer! Test the game out! If both work, then make sure to go back to step 1 and re-enable Razer booting with the PC!

Hope this helps you out! I would not have been able to do this without the help from Hardware and timestamp!

6. Boot up Razer. Can go back to step 1 to enable it too.

Type Windows + R > Powershell, and copy/paste all the following lines in the terminal :

Get-EventLog -LogName Application -EntryType Error -Source "Application Error" | ? { $_.EventID -eq 1000 } | ? { $_.Message -like "*hitman2.exe*" } | ft -AutoSize -Wrap | Out-File "$($env:PUBLIC)\hitman2_app.log" -Force; ii $env:PUBLIC

After executing this command, you will find a log file named "hitman2_app.log" in your explorer containing all the errors encountered during HITMAN 2 execution.

Game crashes because of Razer Chroma. Update or tweak or remove all your Razer softwares.

Ah. Thanks. Well... that seems to be the problem. But I tried updating and all... crash. Closing all the programs... still crash. Uninstall? That'll be a massive pain for me to do every time I wanna play Hitman....

I'm not sure how this razer thingy works, but maybe you could prevent it from loading on system boot thus making it optional.

I dunno, uninstalling for now. Hitman works after that. I sent a help request to Razer, hope they get back to me with an answer.

OH! SOLVED IT!

After doing what you suggested, the game ran just fine. I later went to fiddle with the options, found a check box for Razer, checked it, saved the settings... now I can run both the game and Razer! Thank you so much for the help!
