All of which should get you banned online
Personally, I think it’d be stupid if they should. Imagine getting angry over something as trivial as a random person replacing their textures and sounds to their heart’s contents.
Should I remind you that when Rockstar tried to take down modding tools for GTAV, the singleplayer community got incredibly enraged and reviewbombed the game in June 2017?
That’s what happens when you remove the people’s ability to mod their game when there’s no harm in someone wanting to mod their singleplayer game.
I know HITMAN 1 & 2 has “Online-DRM” but don’t give me that excuse, it’s one of the main criticisms of the game that should never be implemented and I also hate to see this game and its sequel die in ten years time when it becomes impossible to complete and unlock challenges and items respectively in offline mode.
The only mods that should get you banned are ones that affects leaderboards and online multiplayer (Sniper Assassin and Ghost Mode). But aside from that, WB Games doesn’t seem to be against nor care much about mods: https://redd.it/ag0rpe
Don’t know what’s IOI’s stance on mods but if there’s reports of bans, we would’ve known by now.
So anyway, here’s a list of mods I know so far:
There’s texture mods:

Model Swapping is possible but there’s no public tutorials...

Ansel Camera Hack (Nvidia only):

Bloom and Post Lighting Effects Mod (DX11 only. Toggles bloom, lens flare and all that):

Beyond that I stated there are several mods, which is accurate. So, I wasn't incorrect.
Edit: and imagine getting so mad over that ♥♥♥♥ that you reported me lmfao
I said "mods should get you banned," that's an opinion because there are tons of cheaters who use mods to completely ruin the competitive mode in this game.
I very deliberately did not use the words "would get you banned" because I am not aware of anyone being banned for cheating, even though I believe they should be.
I use the correct words to convey precisely what I intend. You misunderstanding that does not change my meaning or intentions.
The second thing I said was mods exist, this is technically correct, the best kind of correct. I simply chose not to offer a list or links. They were not asked for and besides there are other helpful people like Duckilous willing to offer those details beyond my simple comment.
You jumped in and bumped an old thread to do what exactly? Tell me I was wrong when I was in fact correct? Then to follow up and pretend you know what I meant better than I know my own intentions? I'm sorry, but you are once again wrong, so I must correct you (politely) again.
Also note: I don't get mad. I simply provide information. But if you can't be bothered to be accurate, I can continue to make note of your mistakes so that you may learn from them. This is done from a state of neutral calm.
Any turmoil you see or feel is entirely your own, please do not waste time projecting it or pretending that I meant anything other than exactly what I state in clear and simple terms for you..
If there is anything else you wish to learn about, please ask. But this thread topic was already fairly well covered. Perhaps I could suggest you start a new thread rather than continuing to derail this one.
Enhance your calm and have a wonderful night.
When I said harmless, I meant ones that cannot be used on online mode or are purely cosmetic like texture or audio mods.
Users on the modding thread at Hitman Forum have figured out how to edit missions to include map additions from escalations and bonus missions or even combine two different maps together at the same time. One person have figured out and released a mod that replaces the MK II items with unused and non-unlockable ones, and some weapons have their attributes edited.
While these are the sort of mods that can ruin leaderboards (even though it's already contains cheaters or cheesed by electric phones), they cannot be used on online mode at all since the game will use the files from the servers rather than the edited ones locally.
Users who are concerned about these types of mods have nothing to worry about, and I know for sure that these modders don't even want their mods to be used on online mode.
Nobody likes being growled at by their favourite game developer.
I personally like to mod my "single player" gaming to enhance replayability of my games. I also like to use trainers for my offline/single player gaming for my new games to let me get some type of headway into the game so I get to know more about the game AI and atmosphere. I do NOT use trainers of any kind for ANY online gaming. Not just because it can get you banned but because it is just plain uncool. After I get to know a new game and how the AI reacts to my actions I then get to enjoy the full content of the game, and test my abilities with it, by NOT using the trainer for the game. That's what the trainers are for. Help you learn the game without getting frustrated by getting fragged 30 seconds into the mission..
My personal opinions.. Some may agree. Some may not. We all have freedom of speech and the right to disagree with other's comments. But. We don't have to be crude and disrespectful when we disagree. There is too much of that in the forums of ANY site.
EDIT:
When I get home I will try this one. The Bloom in Absolution was a complete chaos hahah And here it's not so chaotic but, at times, it's very bright

Check the Mod DB and Nexus sites. They are among the better quality sources of game mods.
I use a lot of texture and character mods from these sources. For single player games I use a number of their offerings of gamer provided custom maps as well.
As for other mods I mentioned in my previous post. Game Trainers. These are very likely
to get you banned if you try to use them for online / multiplayer gaming and for good reason.
SO... Of course. IF You choose to try or use ANY trainer.. DO NOT use them online..
Just saying.. ;-)
We're talking about HITMAN 2 here, a game where you have plenty of save states, plenty of handholding settings enabled by default and a Casual Mode that dumb down the AI with less no cameras at all.
Casual has no cameras at all, Zero. And less enforcers, and more objects are legal to open carry, and NPC's have a lower range of hearing for gunshots/explosions, and you're a walking tank that can take about four times the amount of shots before you die (and more if you actually hide and regen)
There's basically nothing quite like "normal" was in the previous game. Casual is far easier than normal used to be.
Current professional is a slightly easier version of what professional was in the previous game, but it has the extra cameras and enforcers that professional mode had so it's harder than normal used to be (if only slightly). The biggest change however is that old pro used to be 1 save and new pro is unlimited saves, same as normal was, so it's sort of a hybrid, but leans more into pro than normal aside from the saves.
And then master is slightly harder than professional used to be with even more cameras and wider hearing range (and uses the old pro rule of 1 save)
