Problem with navigating in main menu.

I used to play Hitman 2 with no issues untill now. Starting from today, when i am in the main menu, every time i try to move my mouse, the cursor returns straight at the centre of the screen and the button explanations (Escape= back etc that exist all around the main menu screen) change and show buttons of a controller even though i dont have any controller installed nor have i ever installed any in my computer. Then they flip back to keyboard and then again in controller and so on, all very fast while the cursor moves at the centre each time. As you can understand, the game is now unplayable because i can not move my cursor to select anything.
Does anyone else face this problem? Is there anything i can do in order to fix it?

Have you had anything plugged in recently? The game can confuse other usb attachments with controllers

Go through your hardware management list and disable any devices you aren't currently using, some people have had issues with racing wheels. I plugged in my camera once to transfer pictures and my computer asked me what it was, one of the options was controller until I installed the correct driver for it.

For some reason, when i tried to oepn the game once more some time later, it worked normally. I dont understand what exactly went on. No i did not plug in any USB devices. If i somehow figure out what is causing it i will report it as a bug i suppose.

Started to get this myself lately. Disabled everything, and its still happening. Computer has everything except the mouse and keyboard unplugged, and its still happening.

I totally forgot to update this post. I fixed my problem by disabling "HID-compliant game controller" from the control panel / Human Interface Device. Try this and see if it works for you too.

The game can be confused just from certain controller drivers being turned on without a controller plugged in, check your actual device management, not just what is plugged in.

Did that as part of "disabling everything" Even disabled the legitimate controller I didn't have plugged in, just to be safe, but whatever this is, its still going on.
