The best way to do it is just to play a few rounds of the map whenever you play and then do other stuff for the rest of the time so that you aren't doing the same thing for too long.
Also the game isn't centred around 100% completion, it's centred around assassinating your target(s) in fun, interesting and different ways.
There's the incentive of a better sniper rifle within that particular mission for those who actually play sniper assassin.
Considering the popularity of the actual Hitman Sniper game, there are people who play this type of mode. But they also aren't the ones complaining that they have something to do in it.
The grindy nature of this sniper map is actually less than the previous sniper maps. It's possible to score Silent Assassin in about 3 minutes 30 seconds, with all targets hidden and mostly headshots, once you learn the map. The other maps require far more setup to hide all targets and a bit more time to finesse all headshots.
And once you have full mastery and the best possible rifle in that mission, you have absolutely zero reasons to use it. I highly doubt anyone can enjoy a playthrough of Hantu Port after having completed it already for ~50 times to get the mastery up.
I would consider grinding siberia for the gun but at the end of every round its a mystery how many points ill get towards level 20. I wait and boom, 1/3 a level up. Its disappointing
Going from 19-20 takes 12.000.000 xp iirc, so from 13-20 I'm gonna pull a number out my arse and guess you need around 50.000.000 to do that.
I was able to get around 2.400.000 xp per round fairly consistently for about 3 minutes per run when I was doing it. You need to chain together headshots as much as possible to get xp bonuses and make sure you have all challenges unlocked for that 3x score multiplier, that coupled with the 2x SA score multiplier will increase your score by 6x on the final screen and will speeds things right up.
I'm sure there are plenty of walkthroughs on youtube showing optimal methods to bring score up and time down if you really care about it.
It shows you a progress bar for each level and tells you how many levels out of 20 you have done and it shows you in mastery how many levels you have unlocked and how far you have to go.
It's easy enough to see how much the bar moves each time you play, you know what level you are on and the details page shows you the point break downs of what xp you gained and for what
At the same time, you have no idea how far you are from L20, like Luft said, only how far from next level, discovering, every PT, you progress very few level ratio vs. previous level.
It's not that easy. One would assume it is linear, like sandbox maps are, but it is not.
It's actually exponential with a factor: you reach L2 very quick, then 3 less quick etc .... And then from L19 to L20, it's like 12 000 000 like was said.
I've not done the exact maths, determining the factor and equation, too bored about the system, but it is indeed very unfair to players, causing quite some frustration, including with me.
It's a bad system in my books.
I never said it couldn't be improved, I was just responding to this:
Which implies there's no way to know at all, when there is. You can see how many levels you've completed, it shows you in mastery and it shows you a progress bar for each level as you achieve it
So yes there is some indication of how far along you are on the mastery, it's just not precise, you only know current level and an estimate bar for your next level
You still clearly know how many levels remain and even what unlocks you will get along the way. You aren't completely blind and guessing. There's always some indication of progress.
